I was reading the review below mine and chuckled when I saw that the patio door lock was broken, we has 2 patio doors and we called maintenance because we thought ours were broken also, only to find out you had to turn the know the wrong way in order for it to lock.

OUR STORY:

We arrived on Monday 9/8/08 and upon check in asked if they had an outside room facing the Gulf, they did and gladly changed our assigned room to the room with the view. On 9/9/08 SURPRISE we might be getting a visitor here comes Hurricane IKE but at this point he is suppose to go to Corpus Christy BUT if he comes here we are on the side of the resort that will be getting hit with IKE, we laughed and said "Be careful what you ask for".

On 9/9/08 we were told by the Front Desk that there is a possibility we might have to evacuate but we will not know this until Corporate gives the final word. I have to compliment one particular person Mahogany who was the nicest, caring person you could have ever wanted to meet on a vacation, she was so aware of our concerns, left us phone messages about Corporates decision, etc. and just was there 100% all the time.

On 9/10/08 Corporate decided it was best that the Resort be Evacuated, I am pleased to say they put the safety of the Guests and their staff first, they offered everyone a full refund if you left by 8 PM. This voluntary evacuation came the day before the City issued their Evacuation giving us plenty of time to get off the Island and figure out what we were going to do.

Good Job Escapes and Corporate!!!!!!!!!

As far as our room it was a one bedroom and the View was outrageous from both the Living Room and the Bedroom. The Living room was very comfy, the Bedroom was very roomy, full kitchen was great, and we had the washer and dryer which did come in handy since we had no idea how long we were going to live out of a suitcase, it was nice leaving with everything clean after only 48 hours of being there. Under ground parking was convenient as well.

I was unsure about going to this resort after reading some of the past reviews, we found none of that to be true and if things had been different we would have had a Fabulous time there.

From what I understand the resort survived the Hurricane. We would definitely go back to finish our 2008 year end Vacation to Galveston.

Again, Hooray to Mahogany and the Corporate office for putting the GUESTS/STAFF FIRST!!!!!!!!!!! It's nice to go away and know someone is looking out for your best interest in the event of something like this.

Go and ENJOY, you won't be dissapointed.

We live in Houston and love going to Galveston. Now that we have founds the Escapes, we'll have to go more often (after hurricane Ike has been cleaned up). It was clean, well stocked, close to the beach (with a boardwalk) and was just a wonderful place to stay. We're looking forward to going back next summer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The pull-out bed left a lot to be desired and the patio door lock was broken, but neither was that big of a deal. Would definately stay here again.

We stayed at the Escapes! for the 4th time. it's a great place - rooms and hallways are clean and condos are fully stocked. Love the washer/dryer and detergent is provided. The only problem we had this time was someone barbecuing on the 2nd floor balcony. This is strictly prohibited in the rules. It was 9:30 p.m. and the flames were a very visible and concerning. The only phone number listed to call wasn't answered. I had to go to the ground floor, looking for a security guard. When I found her, she wasn't too concerned and she said they were through cooking. She was more concerned about the small dog on the patio - also strictly forbidden but no one was asked to leave as stated in the rental rules. The fact that if we had had a real emergency, there was no one to contact was very concerning. The security guard should have a cell phone - especially after the office closes.

We had a 2 bedroom, unit W45, on the 4th floor. The units are fully equipped with everything you would need, including a washer and drier and even detergent. There are plenty of towels, soap, etc. and while they don't supply shampoo, at check-in they give you a bag with shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and more soap. We had a view of the Gulf and of the pocket park bldg. To our right were new beach homes. Excellent location to be, better higher up than on lower floors, in my opinion.

We were 3 adults and 2 children ( ages 6 and 3) and for two nights we had 2 more 6 year olds. The children all slept in the living room on the sleeper couch ( very big), and the side couch was like a twin bed. Each room had a fan as well as the central air which we controlled in the living room. The closets are tiny and the bedrooms and living room are not overly large, but just fine for a week's vacation. We had 3 tvs and 3 dvd players and a cd/radio/tape player. We traded in through Interval International. The master bath has a whirlpool tub in addition to another shower and was quite spacious, as was the kitchen.

Walking on a boardwalk to the beach pocket park vs. crossing Seawall Blvd. is a very big plus. There is even a shower to wash off the sand when you return and before entering the pool area. The children all loved jumping the waves, gathering shells, building sand castles, etc. The pool is very nice and the adults and children all enjoyed swimming. There is also an area for kids where water shoots up. However, the walk next to it gets very wet, and it can be slippery when you are leaving to go back to your rooms.

On Mon. there is a nice breakfast ; most activities like making tshirts or some craft require payment . However, the staff doesn't tell you about anything, so be sure to ask for an activity brochure if you do go. Several are on the side counter where the activity sign-in books are located. There is an exercise room on the 5th floor.

The entire resort is wireless, but in addition there is a free use computer just off the office, a nice plus.

This is a very nice family resort.
