“Very Nice Property”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014

We only stayed one night after spending several at Surfside Beach, This was a very nice property and I think we wished we had planned the long stay here. Lovely one bedroom, very well decorated, spotless clean, nice pool and lots to do at the property.

This resort has an excellent location and a nice pool. But be prepared because it is an ownership resort. This means you only get a set number of towels, etc for your stay. Housekeeping doesn't come everyday so you are responsible for the upkeep of your room. If you are prepared for this for your stay, then that's not a problem. However if you aren't (we weren't) and you are used to staying in a true full service resort, this can be disconcerting.

The rooms have a very good layout for the suites but again be prepared. The entry has a door that opens into a common area for two rooms; one suite and one studio. This area also has a washer/dryer (for doing your own towels and laundry). The really fun part of this set up is if you forget your key then you are left to banging on the front door and praying your family can hear you through the vestibule AND thed room door! Needless to say other guests are very sympathetic to this plight and offer up their phones to call your suitemates. This option only works though if your family has their phone on them....which at a resort is usually NOT the case. Though you quickly learn your lesson after the first time and the frantic search for keys always then happens BEFORE you leave the room!

The staff is attentive and welcoming. Though it seemed the staff went on break right when 5 families were trying to check in. So one poor lady was left to try to answer the phones, check in families, and handle purchases from the market. The market is filled with an appropriate range of sundries without the normal price gouging of resorts. The prices were completely reasonable.

Overall, this is a good option for families coming together with a range of ages and family styles. Just be prepared for a different setup than what you may be used to. Although if you normally travel in the HI ownership properties these are all probably things you expect.

Where do I begin, from check in to check out it was perfect. the room was on the east side on the 4th floor. the room was a one bedroom king and it was beautiful a full size kitchen big bathroom , and everything u would need or want. All the people especially the front desk people were so nice and helpful. The grounds are kept very clean ,and the view from our room was beautiful. The only negative thing I have to say is the seaweed on the beach there was an abundance of it. I just want to give a big thanks to sandy she was the sweetest ever and made us feel very welcome, and I hope to return real soon

Room Tip: ask for 4th or 5th floor they have the best gulf view.

While visiting relatives who recently relocated to the Houston area, my husband and I took a side trip to Galveston. We booked a 1-bedroom suite, which came with a fully-equipped kitchenette, spacious bedroom and a bathroom large enough for a full-sized house. A/C and heat both worked perfectly. Everything was clean and well-maintained, bed was comfy, there were flat-screen TVs in living room area and bedroom, and we had an unobstructed view of the Gulf of Mexico. After a nasty NYC winter, the warm balmy April weather was just the right touch.

Room Tip: There appears to be a cattle farm across the road, so book a room facing the Gulf unless you like th...

We spent a week with friends in a 2 bedroom lockout (E44 A&B). We stayed in the "A" side which is the larger of the 2. It was a bit smaller than most units we stay in, but comfortable enough for 2 people. There was 1 main deck that had sliding doors to both the living room and bedroom. It overlooked the pool area with a side view of the Gulf. The "B" side was very small. It had a miniature kitchenette, with small refrigerator , dishwasher and only a cooktop (no oven). The living room and kitchen were 1 room. There was a separate bedroom which had no window. There was a door off the living room which led to a very small deck. The door did not have a screen door so you could not leave it open to let in fresh air. The air conditioner could be a little cold. It would have been nice to have access to fresh air with a screen on the door. I would not reserve the "B" side unless it was for just a weekend jaunt and minimal cooking. The nice thing about the lock-out was that you entered both units through a locked door from the hallway. This was into a foyer that had the shared stacked washer/dryer. From the foyer, you entered each unit through individual locked doors. It allowed privacy but you could leave a latch open on the door for easy access to each others units.
The rooms were nicely decorated with comfortable furniture. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Our one complaint was that the floors, except in the bedroom, was all tile. We could hear the furniture above us every time they moved the chairs. Also, there was only 1 light switch in the huge bathroom, and it was not on the side nearest the bedroom. I got tired every morning walking to the other side of the bathroom just to turn on a light. There were 2 entrances to the bath, one from the bedroom and one from the living area. And there needs to be a towel rack near the sink. We had to drape it over the shower wall next to the sink. But the positives were the Jacuzzi spa tub and a separate shower.
The resort has free Wi-Fi but the bandwidth is too small to accommodate all the guests. We had a hard time getting logged on. It was like a constant busy signal. And then when we got logged in, the signal just dropped in the middle of use. Then we couldn't get logged in again. The management tells guests not to stream movies or music. There is a very nice video library next to check in that provides free movies. I was surprised that they had many "just released" movies. So don't plan on streaming.
The pool was very nice and there were many lounge chairs and tables to use. We didn't use the shuffleboard, sand volleyball court or barbeques. We did walk the beach but were disappointed in the huge amount of seaweed lining the beach. It was so thick that you could not walk into the water without trudging through it. It kept us from the beach most of the week. To be fair, this thick seaweed lined all of the beaches in Galveston. It is a seasonal problem but all the locals said that this was the earliest they have seen it and the heaviest. Many of the beaches had tractors shoveling it into piles just so people could get to the beach.
We went out to eat a few times. Had good dinners at Olympia on Pier 21 and Waterman's, which is on the West end closer to the resort. If you take the Cool Tours of Galveston, they validate your ticket to receive a free bread pudding dessert at Olympia. It was very good. More dense than I am used to, but very good. If you are eating in, there is a Wal-Mart grocery store or Krogers nearby.
If we ever return to Galveston, we would stay here again. The staff was friendly and the resort clean.

Room Tip: Get a 4th floor room to prevent chair noise from above.

Hello and thank you for your review of your recent stay. The two bedroom locks rooms are a combination of our one bedroom kings (larger room) and one bedroom queens (smaller room). The one bedroom king has the full kitchen, larger balcony, king bed, queen sleeper sofa, and Jacuzzi tub. The one bedroom queen has the small kitchenette, small balcony, queen bed, full sleeper sofa and a shower/tub in the bathroom. The seaweed is a normal part of the Galveston coast with the season running from May until the first part of July. This seaweed helps rebuild the dunes to protect our island from water surge during hurricanes. Thank you for the wonderful review and hope to see you again soon.

Just stayed there for a long weekend. Clean and spacious rooms. Great, friendly staff. On the beach. Activities for the kids like painting, fuse ball and Wii. We will be back next year. You do have to drive a few miles to get to town, but it was well worth it.

We arrived earlier than anticipated but the ladies at the counter were very accommodating. They actually checked us in to a bigger room for the night and let us know the activities they had going on for the kids. The view to the beach was captivating and the rooms were beautiful. It was a short walk to the beach and there were plenty of seashells for the picking. They had a volleyball court, a tether ball court, and the pool was nice. I would definitely come back for a nice romantic getaway.
