This is a great confectionery! The decor and atmosphere takes you back to the early Twentieth Century and is full of charm along with great Ice Cream and Candy. This is one place you've got to stop in and try- don't be surprised there will be lines, especially during the summer months.

Don't miss this soda fountain if you go to Galveston. It's one of the only kid-friendly places we found left on the island. And great milkshakes, candies, chocolates. Kids loved the old-world feel of it.

It's an old fashion candy, ice cream shop! What more do you need? The ice cream guys even wear paper hats! Kid will love this! They let you taste as much as you like before deciding..great place!

Of course we go to La Kings every time we are at the Strand. It's the best place to get ice cream. There is an old fashioned soda fountain/ ice cream bar down one wall and candy on the other. It is not stroller friendly, so be prepared to carry your child. It is also mostly packed with rude, overheated ladies who will push you out of their way if you get in between them and the candy case. There is no orderly way to order candy, so you're basically standing there until someone point blank looks at you to help you. I usually go to the back and get in line to order ice cream, that way I save myself the frustration.
It's a cool place. Check out the piece of tape in between the front doors that shows the water level when Hurricane Ike hit. Amazing.

This is a really cute, quaint space that is a lot of fun to walk around and drool in! My son ordered a chocolate shake, which was fairly expensive ($7) but they give you a lot (approx. two tall glasses worth). My daughter and I each got a single-scoop cone of pistachio, both of which were really lacking in nuts, much to my disappointment.
They have an amazing selection of candies, practically any kind you could imagine. But the prices are fairly high, about $12 a pound. This is a fun place to visit and it can be budget friendly if you are very careful and resist the temptation to buy a little bit of everything!
