We went to see a production at the Opera House and the highlight turned out to be the Opera House itself!! The Grand has been beautifully restored and the acoustics are incredible.

I took a self-guided tour for $2 of this opera house building. You can take an elevator from floor to floor and look at the beautiful opera house. You only receive a brochure to read to give you some insight. This took me only about 20 minutes. I found parking less than 2 blocks away for free on the street.

As a resident go Galveston we consider this historic gem the crown jewel of the island. After hurricane Ike in 2008 The Grand was damaged so terribly bathe strand area was under 12 feet of water. Thanks to the efforts of the Grand director and numerous funds and donations. The Lady is better than ever. The level of entertainment and performers present a choice that draws patrons from all over the country. It is worth a trip and a ticket!

Many venues share this stage from plays to music groups. Seats are close together not with much leg room if you are tall.

Any chance to see a music act at The Grand should not be missed. The acoustics here are such that folks like Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen often end their shows with an a cappella piece standing on the edge of the stage. One can hear a pin drop during these performances, the audience is so rapt.
