We went to Grotto Rest. for Dinner on Saturday while staying in Galveston over the weekend. The quality of the food and the Service was outstanding. This is the type of Italian food you get from the Michelin Ranking in Europe.

The service and and food quality was amazing. Our waiter Dylan wen the extra mile for us. Asked for lamb and they did not have it on the menu any longer, but he went to the steakhouse and opened their menu to us. Wow the rack of lamb was amazing. I have to say likely the best I have ever had. Fantastic place and a must visit when on the island.

My wife and I are retired and travel all over the world, eating at some of the best restaurants in those countries, and today we were welcomed into the San Luis Resort, Galveston, to eat dinner in their world famous Grotto Ristorante. From the time we called to make reservation, with Chris answering, it was like Red Carpet all the rest of way for us. Chris welcomed us to come in, and he promised if we did we would have a great time in their beautiful hotel's restaurant. We followed his instruction and, from the time we arrived at the hotel until the time we drove away, RED CARPET ALL THE WAY! Outstanding!

From the welcome, smiles, door opening Valet personnel, accepting our car, directing us through the hotel to our destination "Grotto. Like magic Chris welcomed us at the entry way of the ristorante, with such a wonderful smile, I knew it was Chris.

Chris introduced us to our wonderful server Angelique, who for the next two hours, rendered us RED CARPET SERVICE, that totally caught us off guard. We were not expecting to be treated like we were some ones special. It was a team effort. Angelique, introduced us to the hotel, the restaurant, the menu foods and wines on the menu. She recommended excellent food and wine, and presented and displayed them in a fashion that made our mouths watered. The foods were professionally presented and were delicious. The foods and wines were great, but so was the wonderful evening of the people who were coming and going and making a big deal about us. We are thankful about their caring about us.

To the manager of the restaurant, - thank you Sir, for keeping your team happy and focused on excellent service. To Chris - for welcoming us and checking in on us! Thank you! To the wonderful Ms. Angelique, serving us with her best efforts and beautiful smile, “Thank Angelique, for making Victoria and me feel so special, and turning our night into a very special night, because of your effort!’ It was a most outstanding evening in your beautiful San Luis Resort, Galveston. And as we were leaving the hotel, to get our car we were fortunate in meeting Manager Mark Weiss, who we had chance to relate our wonderful experience in their wonder hotel, restaurant. Thank you Mr. Weisse for taking the time to thanking us for coming out to your great hotel. You made our Red Carpet experience, really something even more special.

Thank you, to all of the San Luis Resort Galveston employees for such a really great night.

Went to dinner on Saturday night with some friends and had an amazing time! There was a short wait since we did not have reservations. The hostess was friendly, as was our waitress and the GM. The food was delicious, the ambiance was great... we will be back!

Since this restaurant is located in the famously luxurious San Luis Resort, I had extremely high expectations going in. Unfortunately the service is sub-par & the food is average. Though we had dinner reservations, we had to wait to be seated. The host was not at his station. When he did get back, he made a big show of wiping down the menus both sides before seating us. When we were seated, our server took a long time getting around to taking our orders. For drinks, we tried the peach Bellini. For the meal we tried crab stuffed shrimp from their specials menu. We also had Spaghetti Pollo e Rucola & Margherita Pizza from their usual menu. The crab stuffing was scrumptious but the shrimp themselves were okay. The spaghetti & pizza fared much better. We finished off the meal with Mezzanotte a triple layered chocolate cake with chocolate sauce which was clearly frozen & hard to eat. We did not finish that. This restaurant does not require a dress code. There were guests who were dressed for dinner & others who were in shorts. Though the restaurant does not have a kids menu, there were plenty of families with kids around us. They seemed to be sharing the pizza. I don't know if the service differs for the guests who are actually staying at the San Luis Resort. But I do not like half-hearted service when I am paying full price for my dinner experience. I would suggest skipping this place and trying other restaurants that San Luis Resort & Galveston has to offer.

Thank Nakstrani
