“Great little place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2012

My husband and I were looking for a seafood restaurant and ran across this little whole in the wall. We both ordered a po-boy and a small bowl of gumbo, the portions are huge! We could have both eaten off of one order. The service and the ambiance of this place were great, i'd definitely eat here again.

“Huge portions near The Strand; Beer selection”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

They have a great wine and beer selection and the portions are huge! We had the char-grilled oysters, shrimp po-boy and Seafood gumbo. We got the small portion so I can’t even imagine what the “full” portion is like! My only complaint is the french fries- they were shoestring and soggy. Other than that, a must try if you’re near the strand.

“Awesome food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012

This was our first time to eat here but it won't be the last. The gumbo was awesome, large portions even for the smaller size-- bowls are 16 or 32oz, great flavor and lots of meat. The garlic bread was addicting and way too much for one person to eat. Also tried a po boy and it was delicious. The tabasco mayo is wonderful. Had french fries with the po boy and it was too much. The fries are hand cut not frozen. Even the small sandwich was too much. Great service and atmosphere. We will be back again and again. They also have a pretty long list of beers both foreign and domestic as well as a good wine list.

“Not impressed with the gumbo”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

The menu at this place is very limited, mainly poboys and gumbo, yet it only had four types of gumbo to choose from. I had the seafood gumbo and was not impressed. The roux was overly salty and they skimped on the rice. Added to that, it was very loud and the service was mediocre. I thought it was weird that Galveston seems to have become a "little New Orleans." I mean as far as a touristy place goes, it was about what I would have expected, but it was by no means good.

“GREAT GUMBO”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

Wow this wonderful little cafe/restaurant is very busy. The food is FANTASTIC. Staff very friendly. Get there early as it is obviously well known for its trade dish GUMBO. I had the chicken & sausage gumbo - could have had a few more pieces of chicken but the taste was wonderful and there was plenty of sausage. Other friends had the seasfood gumbo and loved it.
Outdoor seating and indoor seating.
Great selection of beer.
