Granted, we probably picked the worst possible time to go to the Rainforest Cafe (6:45pm on Monday night during Spring Break). We took a $5 10-minute boat ride through the back side of the restaurant, then stood around shoulder-to-shoulder in their gift shop while we waited for a table. It was almost 8:00 before we were seated. When they call you for your table, be aware you're still about 20 minutes away from actually sitting down.
The animatronics (a couple of gorillas and a few birds) were no where near the caliber of those at Disneyland or DisneyWorld. The rainstorm happens about every 30 minutes. It was fun the first couple of times we heard it, but got old after the fifth and only served to remind up how long we had been there.
The food was nothing special and overpriced. We made four requests to our waiter to get steak sauce for my son's small piece of steak. We finally got some from a waiter at anther table. Dinner for three, with appetizer but no alcohol or desserts was over $90 (including a 10% tip for bad service).
There are much better places to eat in Galveston. This will not be on our dining list on future trips to the Gulf.
