“Fun, kid friendly, entertaining, but Pricey!”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

First of all, it seems there is always a long wait to get into the restaurant. The river ride is nice and entertaining and always enjoyable for the kids.

Food always tastes great but it is somewhat costly.

Atmosphere is pleasant and very neat, especially during their indoor thunderstorm and robotic wildlife.

Be prepared for a good time, but have cash or credit cards handy!

“great for young kids, or young at heart”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

This is about atmosphere as well - it is geared towards younger kids (early teenage or younger). There is a very large nice aquarium, and the different areas in the restaurant have animated animals thaty go off every 15 minutes. the place is as it says - like eating in a rainforest. There is a "thunderstorm" every 30 minutes (less the rain). All the young kids around us loved it. Food is OK - not bad, not great. Prices are a bit high (four of us plus a desert was $100) but the service was good. If you have young kids, or young heart, it is a must see at least once.
The outside looks like a volcano which actually has a fire eruption show every hour or so.

“Galveston Rain Forest Cafe vs San Antonio's”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The Rain Forest Cafe in Galveston has a volcano like structure on the top. Flames shoot out the top of the volcano every few minutes. I thought that was cooler than the one in San Antonio which doesn't have the volcano structure. Also, they still sell the volcano browie cake with the sparklers on top. They no longer do that the area where I'm from, so I was impressed they still did. The food and the quaking room is the same. I would suggest going just to see the cool volcano.

“Must-do with kids”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

Our two kids just loved the place. They couldn't get enough of the moving animals, and the lightning.

Food is showy and ok. The volcano dessert is a good way to finish off the meal together. The prices are a bit high, but you're obviously paying also for the environment.

“Management bites”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Took a family of 5 here today. Overall, the kids really liked. He'll, I liked it. But.....

The river ride was overpriced. Period. Not worth it...but it gave the kids a smile

Food. Yes it's overpriced. It was ok. But here is my gripe. One of the plates ordered was a steak and shrimp. Steak wasn't cooked correctly. They never brought it back!!!!! When we pointed this out, as everyone else was done eating management offered to cook one. We were done. Too late. So on a $23 plate they gave us a $8 credit. After ruining the persons meal. Ridiculous
