Yamato's has both sushi and hibachi. I admit that I have never had the hibachi items on the menu. I have been here several times for sushi. I have been here for both business and pleasure. I have taken clients here on more than one occasion. The last time I was here, I spent over $2500.00 (we were really hungry and had a LOT of people).
This place is known by locals for it's excellent sushi. I prefer uncooked sushi and have not been disappointed by any of there specialty rolls. Yamato's also has the ability to block off a couple of the hibachi grills if you need a private room and will supply an overhead projector. It is still a little noisy but nothing that can't be overlooked. I have found this to be one of the best sushi restaurants in all of Galveston County. If you base this review on sushi alone, it would get an excellent rating. However, I must knock off one star for atmosphere. The atmosphere is nothing special and the restaurant could use a little interior updating. However, since your not eating the furniture, it is worth the trip. You will not be disappointed.
IMPORTANT PARKING TIP: When you pull into the parking lot, you'll notice there is typically parking available in the center of the lot and all of the outer-edge spots will fill first. This is because of the giant billboard that sits in the center of the parking lot. DO NOT park under this sign. The pigeons and seagulls will decimate your car while you are eating dinner. It doesn't matter what color your car is, when you come out of the restaurant, you will think your car is white. If you park under this sign, you will be washing your car after dinner.
