Description: Texas Monthly Magazine - "This bright, cheery cafe located near the Medical Center enjoys a legion of foodie fans. Weekday lunches feature great salads, sandwiches, po'boys, and one of our faves-tacos loaded with grilled fish, crunchy cabbage slaw, and a house-made rémoulade that brings it all together. On the weekends we return for a brunch of fluffy biscuits topped with sinfully rich cream gravy and a pitcher of mimosas with fresh squeezed OJ. Oh yeah."

“Great place for lunch”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

My first visit, but definately not my last, took place this past week. I ordered the flat iron steak salad ($9) which was excellent and filled with fresh ingredients and tender steak.

You place your order at the counter and are given one of those buzzer/vibrating thingys - grab your drink and a seat. My lunch was ready within no more than 10 minutes. Although a bit loud, it's otherwise a great atmosphere, plenty of seating (including a private meeting/party room), fast and accurate service, friendly and personable staff, reasonable prices, enough menu selections to keep me coming back (menu items consist of salads, soups, paninis, burgers, pizza) - all made from scratch. They're open for breakfast and lunch Monday - Saturday and offer brunch on Sunday's.

The restaurant is located near UTMB so street parking is sometimes hard to find, but there is a parking lot right next door with plenty of parking, and they will validate your parking so that's a big plus.

The Farley Girls are sisters that are IBC's (Islanders by Choice) and according to Galveston.com, their family has been contributing to many of the local restaurants in the area.

Looking forward to my next visit!

“very nice & informal”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

We had a fine breakfast for 4 this past weekend after visiting UTMB. If you need to go to UTMB, Farley Girls Cafe is just a couple of blocks south of the hospital. Mexican Eggs Benedict, Seafood Omelet, Waffles, all very good, and reasonably priced. Quick too. Bright, airy, not too noisy.

“Vibrant island cooking”
Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

Brunch was a pleasant surprise. The food was flavorful and had just the right size portions. The only drawback is that the setting is so vibrant it's difficult to have a conversation with almost shouting.

“Sunday Brunch a must!”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

After a few good lunches at Farley Girls, we made sure to hit their Sunday brunch. Awesome shrimp and grits, and a great breakfast pizza with eggs, cheese and onions on a chewy-crispy crust. There's also a great breakfast sandwich on sourdough bread. In fact, the bread choices on all their sandwiches is outstanding--some come on a brioche-type bun, others on the sourdough, and it really makes the sandwich. Coffee is self-serve but good quality, and all the help, from the counter person to the sisters themselves, are always cheery and personable.
Street parking is scarce, but the restaurant validates free parking in the adjacent lot on Postoffice St.
Note: brunch is only on Sunday; we tried going on a Saturday and they were closed.

“Farley Girls' a family tradition!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Having eaten at the establishment the parent's of these girls had, Waterman's, I did have some expectations. I was not disappointed! The food was delicious, generous and priced appropriately. The ambiance was okay, however, the noice was too high in the main dining area to hear the person I was dining with clearly. We moved to the back room and it was better. We tried to come a little before the regular lunch crowd as the place really does brisk business! I enjoyed my selection of baked chicken, could have been cooked a little bit longer, steamed spinach, yum, mashed red potatoes with skins, stellar! and a little bite of bread pudding, too sweet for me, no raisins. I think they do well, because they have a varied menu, varied price availability and they are in a location right next to the hospital, so they not only get the employees but folks visiting their family folks in the hospital. The special touch at Farley Girls is the personal touch. One of the Owners always comes by to check on how you like your food, if you have any comments or if you need anything and they always do right by the customer if there's been a problem or mistake!! Highly recommend it! The personal pizzas are fab!
