Description: The toast of the Texas coast. How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can't. That's why Gaido's is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido's is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there's no denying Gaido's is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido's has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions- birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido's can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. -- for over 100 years - is truly the coastal classic.

“Great Food and Service with High Prices”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

Wanting to get fresh seafood while staying a weekend in Galveston, we tried this restaurant. From the moment you step inside you notice this is a classy place. My family felt under dressed in shorts and t-shirts (standard beach attire) but decided to stick it out.

The menu choices were few but still enough variety in the choices offered. The wait was a little while (suffered through a rogue fire alarm) but worth it for the freshness of the food. The pricing can sneak up on you though, but you do get what you pay for. My only suggestions would be to offer a few more options for adults on the menu.

“Impeccable service and great food!”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

Gaido's was recommended to us by a local Galvestonian, so we went one night - we got there around 9 pm and they were already preparing to close the kitchen for the night. They went out of their way to serve us and make us feel welcome without rushing us out of the restaurant, we enjoyed our food and our experience thoroughly. You must try Gaido's when in Galveston.

“Great Local Food!”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

The service was great & attentive they actually are one of 2 restaurants that locals told us that serve fresh seafood! We loved it! Parking was limited but we got lucky. We made a reservation through open table! Definitely will be back wasn't too pricey at all our check was about the same we would pay at somewhere like olive garden.

“Great food! Great service!”
Reviewed July 15, 2014 via mobile

We knew it was a nicer more expensive restaurant, so we dressed nice, and we waited a while to get seated. We've waited 30-40 minutes to be seated before at other restaurants so this was ok. Our waitress was very nice, very informative, and pretty cute. Her and the other girl were working as a student worker program and they were from Ukraine! I ordered the seafood combination platter with grilled catfish, shrimp, and scallops and it was all very very good for $23. My wife and I shared a house salad which had to be ordered separate, but I'm glad we did because it was huge! Even though we had to wait awhile to be seated, we were served pretty fast. It was a very nice experience!

“Great overall despite a few issues...”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

My husband and I visited Gaido's last weekend to celebrate his birthday. We hadn't decided where we'd end up until we got to town so I didn't make a reservation...big mistake evidently, as we waited for around 45 minutes. We had drinks from the bar, but it still seemed like a long wait when everybody around us kept getting sat while we continued to wait.

Once we were sat, we had the misfortune to sit next to a couple with young boys who were VERY loud. We have kids ourselves so we get it...it's just that we were paying a ton to a babysitter at home so we could have a nice night out WITHOUT children and then had to watch/listen to someone else's kids spill their sodas, talk about "tooting", etc. Sigh...

All that aside, our server Lauren was GREAT. She was chatty without being intrusive, had a great sense of humor and was helpful with any questions we had. The crab spinach artichoke dip and the lobster bisque were both very good. Shrimp peques was very good too and we liked that the too-sweet sauce (for our tastes) was served on the side, and the grilled seafood plate was perfect.

What sealed the deal for us was the complimentary pecan pie and cinnamon ice cream we received for hubby's birthday. It was a great surprise and very appreciated! We will be back!
