If you go there for a vacation don't go there after a storm! Your car might break because the water level is high but it is OK for a high car so if you have a high car it is OK for you to come. If you go through the whole thing you will meet sand just don't get sucked!

While West Beach is losing ground, East Beach is gaining sand/real estate. Galveston looks to be trying to take care of the beaches on the East end and it shows - most of the time. For whatever reason (....environmental we are told....) they will not clean up the stinking and aggressive seaweed during that few months in the summer. Shame on Galveston for not coming up with a better solution for that - but otherwise a great beach to walk on!

when the Spring Breakers and Mardi Gras-ers aren't mucking it up for everyone. I like the surf and sand, but not the noise and crowds. I also shy away from the heat. Sunsets are gorgeous here.

This was a nice beach to visit, but it is a long way out of the way, and a long way from everything else. They had a hot dog vendor, but if you wanted anything else, you had to leave, and you would have to pay ($8) for parking again if you came back. Chair rentals were $35 per day. You didn't have the yucky smell we experienced at the seawall, though.

People are complaining about the dark colored sand...does color matter?? The beach is clean and not over crowded. Life-guards on duty and close parking. I am from Orlando originally and have recently moved to Galveston area. I find not much difference between daytona..stay close to the Pleasure pier if you are looking for restaurants and ammenities. Stewart Beach definately has better accomodations.
