“Really good oyster bar.”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

This place seems to cater to locals rather than tourists. However, the oysters, the gumbo, the rock & roll music and the service was great. Just a block away from thr Tremont Hotel.

“Try the Gumbo while it's cold out! lOVE THE FRIED OKRA!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We started off with jalepano popper which were okay but only that then tried fried okra.ABSOLUTE BEST ON ISLAND! The okra was breaded by hand then friend individually --not in clumps. soooooo yummy. The small bowl of gumbo was huge! The big bowl was HUGER!-HA! Great roux base--lots of shrimp and Pysters.
This is an easy walk from all the tourist traps on the Strand.

“Love this place!”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

My Dad was visiting and was in the mood for raw oysters. I checked this place out online and decided to give it a try. So glad I did. We both loved it. This is New Orleans come to Galveston. Great, upscale atmosphere that is still casual. My favorite kind of place. White table cloths, candlelight, yet still come as you are. The atmosphere and menu reminded me very much of New Orleans. The server was awesome, the food even better. Best fried shrimp I have had on the island...by FAR! Can't wait to go here again. I will send all my Louisiana friends there.

“relaxation after shopping”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

nicely redone building, huge portions of reasonably-priced food and cold beer. Fish tacos were excellent! Their oyster po-boy with blue cheese sounded great, but was not a good dish; the oysters were fresh and coated with Buffalo-sytyle spices and lightly cooked, but then they dressed it with a sauce that made everything soggy. The guy next to us had a burger the size of a bowling ball. would go back for sure.
