“Ike Tree Sculptures”

Very interesting to see. Most of the houses in that area are fabulous. The map is easy to read and they are easy to find and fun to see. Even though it took a devastating storm to cause them
to be carved they are something good that came from a bad storm.

“Difficult to see with all the traffic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

The sculptures are nice but you just about get run over when you slow down to see them. We also heard some disturbing stories of people who were paid to sculpt the stubs left from the hurricanes so they didn't look as good to us after that. It isn't a money making project, except for the sculptors.

“Simple and free tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

We picked up the tour brochure and map from the Galveston visitor's center, which made it really easy to follow and find the sculptures. You can also access one online. It was great to see something positive come out of the damaged trees from Ike! This is something for everyone, and you don't need to leave the car (sleeping baby, wheelchair, illness, etc).

“Fun and whimsical”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

These were carved from the stumps of trees destroyed in the last major hurricane. Some are soaring, some are whimsical, some are silly, but a lovely idea to commemorate the beautiful trees.
