Free ferry car and passenger ferry takes you between Galveston & Port Bolivar. Runs 24 hours a day. Seems like it would be a busy busy mode of transportation in the summer months.

I was only ten years old the first time I saw Galveston & have loved it ever since!
That first time I rode the ferry surely stuck in my mind.
Thin is surely a relaxing ride & you come back when you feel like it.
It's a pretty ride at night when you can see all the shore lits!

Wonderful quick trip in the fall. Get up as early as possible and pack a picnic lunch. You'll see the porpoises follow the ferry across to the penninsula and back again. Check out either Fort Travis one mile once you land in Boliver or drive a few more miles down the road to Crystal beach. Good for the soul and the wallet.

Rode the ferry for no other reason than just to "ride" it...was the first time I have ever seen dolphins in the wild, both going and coming, and I even seen a shark. I had more fun on the ferry than walking the beach!!!

Paln to ride the ferry to Bolivar when you visit Galveston. It is one of the best things to do that is FREE!!! It is also a great opportunity for watching dolphins. We saw dolphins going and returning. Great opportunity for pictures as well. Go to the upper deck. You can also feed seagulls from the rear of the boat. Good family and romantic activity.
