Diamond Beach

We just got back from our 1st stay at Diamond Beach and we had a blast. Clean and new property with lots of kid friendly things to do. Condo was clean and modern with easy access to Galveston with out being in the more crowded part of the seawall area. Beach not as well maintained but that is common all along the Tx. Coast. Highly recommend for family get away!

Pros: Nice resort, huge, luxurious, zero entry pool, slow-moving, relaxing lazy river lined with beautiful, tall landscaping, swim up bar, private movie theatre, very nice fitness center with views of the ocean, beautiful spa (although didn't use) and close to restaurants.

Cons: You'll need an access key (a/k/a "FOB") for entry into EVERYTHING at the resort which can be a real hassle if you don't receive more than ONE upon check in. We had 4 adults in our group and while some wanted to stay in the condo and swim later, others wanted to swim now - you get the idea: "who has THE key? who has THE fob? The front desk was nice enough to let us borrow an extra FOB, but my advice would be to directly CONFIRM with the owner that you'll receive TWO keys to the condo and TWO FOBs, and at least ONE Parking Garage key - unless you don't mind parking uncovered, otherwise, I'd return again.

Also, the 2nd bedroom is very small in the 2bdrm 2bath floorplan - ok for kiddos, but for an adult couple, a queen bed is a tight fit.

Overall we had a great time at Diamond Beach Condos. It has kind of that resort feeling. Kids had a great time in Lazy River and the 3 tiered pools. Very family freindly with kids walk in pool. Beach access was nice too, but there was a lot of seaweed which was pretty ripe. We were dissapointed to find out after we arrived that the pool bar and water slide are only open on the weekends. The slide was niot very entertaining but the pool bar was nice to have. I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Romms vary becasue they are individually owned. Most of the ones we saw were very nicely furnished...

My family hated it!
Resort staff took a militant approach in lieu of a customer service approach.
Resort manager continually walking the grounds checking wrist bands, and reprimanding guests.
The resort beach is not set up for guests to enjoy a day at the beach. It is rocky and full of seaweed. No chairs or umbrellas.
Lazy river not in operation. Game room no a/c. and some of the games were broken.
The only location to eat meals was the table located on the patio. 4 chairs for a condo that sleeps 8.
We were so disgusted with the resort staff we left a day early and will never return.

Diamond Beach was perfect for our family. We did a lot of research before the trip and EVERYONE warned of the creepiness because no one is there. Well they were right. BUT, we didn't care no one else was around. We had the whole pool to ourselves.
Pros: Amenities. Kitchen in condo. Grounds immaculate. Workout facility.
Cons: No people around....again which is fine. Beach isn't the best beach - for beach time you'll have to get in the car.
BOLD CLAIM: I wouldn't stay anywhere but Diamond Beach. Every place else appeared subpar. Remember though, this is Galveston - not Maui. Make sure you make The Strand part of your visit and stop by La Kings Ice Cream Shop. Feel free to email with any questions. We were pleased with our trip selection and stay.

The facility amenities are very good. The pools, indoor and out, and lazy river pool are excellent. There is a spa, bar and a movie room. This is all excellent. The rooms are privately owned and you will get a mixed bag of furniture layouts. Our 3 bedroom 2 bath condo was set up for a family of five, 2 adults and 3 small children. It is not suitable for a group with more than two adults since 3 of the beds were kid size make sure you know what you are renting. Sand and Sea is the rental manager and they are pretty good. Was an issue with the number of keys the first day and that is an issue since many doors in the facility use a sensor on the key ring for access. The nearby beach is public and pretty dirty. we spent virtually all of our time around the pool. You are also away from the entertainment district of Galveston and that can be good or bad depending on your perspective. One issue we had was the guests upstairs the kids tromped through the condo and we could hear that along with the dragging furniture and toilet flushing pretty loud in our condo. Another issue is that 2 of the bedrooms had no windows and the master only had a small one out to the dining room. It made for a very dark room unless you turned on the light. The furnishings in the condo were pretty good even though I found the bed a little hard for my taste. There is a business center and our condo had wifi. It was very pricey.

Room Tip: Make sure you know what beds are in the room. Try to get a top floor room so you don't have gue...

We rented condo 406 (3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms) for Spring Break of 2013. The condo itself was very clean and modern, but a bit small for a large family. The master suite was spacious; however, the two other bedrooms were tiny with no windows and rather claustrophobic. The kitchen also had no dining room table, just 4 bar stools. On the balcony, however, was a large dining table for exterior meals but nights were too chilly to make this a comfortable option. Now, the premises were perfect for families. In addition to the amazing pool, hot tubs, water slide and lazy river, kids may enjoy the movie theater (sign up early), game room, exercise room and inside heated pool. Diamond Beach is safe and secure. Unless an individual is staying on location, gaining access to the property would be difficult, so I felt safe for my kids to wander around with some independence. My only complaint would be that there are no restrooms on the ground floor for the pool. Visitors must dress and go up to the second floor to find access to restrooms. I never saw children or many adults doing this, so my only guess is that the pool became the restroom. :o( Also, there is a bar on one end of the pool. It would be nice if the resort provided wait staff for bar service to the cabanas and pool patrons.

Room Tip: higher rooms have better view
