Description: Opened in January 1998 by Jorge and Antonio Oyervides and a friend, Frank Diaz, Salsas Mexican & Seafood Restaurant is their first restaurant, though the three have been in the restaurant business for more than 24 years. Salsas is located at 4604 Seawall Boulevard - and features plenty of parking, a breathtaking Gulf view from our enormous outdoor patio, and beautiful sunshine. Our fine Mexican restaurant is bright, clean and colorful. Each table features two tantalizingly-different salsas, along with crispy, light tortilla chips. The menu offers traditional Mexican dishes like chicken or beef fajitas, enchiladas and burritos, plus some not-so-traditional platters such as seafood with a south-of-the-border flair. We invite you to savor your favorite dish and enjoy our frothy, refreshing margaritas. Happy Hour is Monday thru Friday from 3pm to 7pm. Salsas offers a daily Lunch Special from 11am to 3pm Monday thru Friday. Pickup orders are welcomed; simply call ahead. We look forward to serving your entire family!Salsa's Mexican Restaurant offers a breathtaking Gulf view from our enormous outdoor patio, and beautiful sunshine. Enjoy our colorful, delicious Mexican food along with a frothy, refreshing margarita.

“Average Mexican”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We ate here one night while we were on the island waiting to board the cruise ship. We love Mexican food, and we would say this was about average - not horrible, but not the best either. The chips were a little tough to our taste, but the salsa was pretty good. Our dinners were good, but just average.
Its pretty noisy in this restaurant, and that got a little annoying at times hearing other tables talking loudly, etc. It seems like the sound of talking, dishes, etc, carrys a lot in the dining room.
Ok - but we would probably try something different next time.

Thanks for giving us a try. While we're so glad that you enjoyed your time with us, "average" just isn't good enough — we want every bite to wow you! I'd like to know a bit more about this so we may discover the areas in need of improvement. What did you order? Let me know, and we'll be sure to make your next visit an excellent one! Until then, thanks for your candor.

“Excellent!”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

Growing up in Oklahoma / Texas area, we have eaten A LOT of Mexican food. Salsas was great! Service was excellent, queso was great, chips & salsa was perfect - tried the green salsa for the first time & loved it! Our table had everything from enchiladas to fajitas to tacos. Everything was outstanding! Portions were huge, we couldn't eat it all. I hope to go back before we leave Galveston.

It's great to hear such high praise from someone who loves Mexican food as much as we do! You're right about the green salsa — the bright acidity lends a refreshing bite to those salty tortilla chips. Glad to hear that nobody left hungry! Thanks for the excellent review. We hope to see you again soon!

“Good food”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

It is an average mexican restaurant. It provides great food and I love their spinach and avacado enchiladas, they really are great. They are pretty pricey with their drinks, I would go on happy hour. I prefer the Original, but that's just my preference.

Thanks, Sarah — we can't get enough of our Spinach and Avocado enchiladas, either! It sounds like you had a lot of fun with us, so we're wondering what brought down your rating. Let us know, and we'll see what we can do to improve! :)

“Great mix of tex-mex and seafood”
Reviewed October 4, 2012 via mobile

Lots of menu choices, I had the shrimp enchiladas, big plate of grilled shrimp stuffed enchiladas, 3, with yummy white sauce. (about $13) We also had queso flameado with chorizo, always delicious. Green and red salsa was just okay. We had a beerita, perfect with tex-mex. great mariachi band played throughout restaurant. Our waiter was a little annoying, forgot my 2 yr olds beans and didn't see him much, busy restaurant for night for Wednesday.

Lisa,

There's nothing like a beerita to help you relish the last few days of warm weather! We're so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your shrimp enchiladas. I apologize for your server's inattentiveness — this is quite uncommon for us, but I'll be sure to discuss it with our team. Still, it sounds like you had a great time, and we'd love to welcome you back soon!

“Great food at decent prices, service hardly mediocre.”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

After nearly a five hour drive through the rain from Fort Worth we decided to grab a bite to eat. We used tripadvisor to look at reviews and noticed some good reviews for the food. My husband really enjoyed the Mazatlan platter which had a nice variety of foods. The queso was also really delicious. Although the food was above average the service we received detracted from our ability to enjoy it all. We didn't get to the restaurant until 8 pm, but with a closing time of 10 pm, there was no excuse for the waiter's unattentive nature. I can certainly understand the wait staff being spread thin during peak dining hours but our waiter only had 3 tables including ours The waiter only came to our table 3 times, to take our order, drop off the food and leave the check. He did not refill our drinks or bring more chips as we had requested. Although the food was nice, the restaurant was clean and prices are reasonable I wouldn't return simply because I don't like subpar service.

Sharon,

It was our pleasure to offer you a refuge from the rainy roads. Although I am beyond thrilled that you and your husband so enjoyed your meals, it's disappointing to hear about the lack of service you experienced. This is completely unlike us, and I wish that this aspect of your visit had made a better impression. That said, I will certainly discuss this with our team. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. We hope you will afford us another opportunity to impress you next time you're on the Island.

Regards,
Frank, Owner
