The price we paid was full price without buying the Texas state park pass for $70. There is a daily entrance fee to this park of $5 per person per day on top of the $25 a day fee. For the money I would not recommend this park. Yes it is ocean front but very exposed to the elements, ie no trees for shade. It rained for the duration of our stay so the beach was pretty well a non event for us. The bathrooms are ok, hot water but could be a bit better maintained. Our check in experience was not the best, the staff member was very abrupt and not very helpful. She was there to do a job but she had no passion. The park is a considerable distance from any shops or services and sites do not have sewer hook up.

I had only a few hours here whilst passing through but loved it and wished I could stay longer. The staff were really friendly and helpful and one took the time to stop and point out some interesting birds to me. It looked like it was very family friendly but I was there on my own to do some bird watching and have a general look around. Even in August the birds were great with lots of herons and terns as well as a lot of passerines like shrikes, kingbirds and orioles. I would love to back here and spend some more time!

Nice and serene part of the Island but the 'hiking' trails aren't really what I would class as hiking. They are all very short and have very little in difference in elevation. The clapper rail trail is the nicest as you get to cross a couple of wooden bridges over the water and see the jumping fish!

We spent a weekend here camping beach front, since the Hurricane wiped out most of the beach front camping, spaces are limited, so book early. They have the cleanest beaches in Galveston, the bay side is a great place for bird watching, and kayaking. They don't rent Kayaks, so you'll have to provide your own. There is an entry fee per person, but you have in and out access to the park, unlike other beaches. It's a great little state park for sure. Best part is, you don't need a fishing license to fish in a state park, so you can fish away!

What a quiet getaway beach! We went on a Wednesday and there were just a few other couples on the beach. The staff at the park entrance was friendly and helpful. We packed a lunch that we picked up before going since there is no food sold there. The entrance fee of just $5 per person allows all day access to the beach and the bird sanctuary across the highway. There is a nature center open on the weekends. Great place to get away from the city noise and enjoy nature.
