Even though I am a native Texan, I had never visited the Moody Mansion Museum. What a treat! Our tour guide, Claire, was so informative and knowledgeable of the history of Galveston Island and the Moody Family. You get a real feel for what life was like in the early 1900's if you were "well-healed" and how the Storm of 1900 transformed the island. The mansion is beautiful and has undergone quite a restoration after Hurricane Ike. The tour is approximately 1-1/2 hours and is probably not a good idea for someone who has trouble navigating stairs. You will ascend to the second story of the mansion and the stairs are steep (not a lot of stairs, but small and steep). Well worth the visit. Their website has a buy one, get one free coupon. Enjoy!
