... an off the beaten path little bit of paradise where the beach is but a few steps from the door. The people are warm, friendly, and professional. I have been several times and hate leaving. Need less to say, "I Will Be Back".

My wife, family and I have stayed at the Galvestonian many, many times over the past three years and love it more each time. It is clearly located on the best beach in Galveston and is isolated enough for long, wonderful private beach walks on crisp and windy days. You can watch the cruise ships exit and returnto the gulf very close by and everything historic in the city is about a five minute drive away. The property is very well manitained and each unit is uniquely designed by the owners. Be careful to choose those that are well designed, by interior designers. Some units are a little dated looking but others are simply marvelous.Don't expect a hotel experience with bell hops and and the normal hotel stuff. This is a privately owned facility that happens to rent units. The staff is very friendly, if you make an effort to get to know them and very helpful when you need them. Our rooms have always been clean and neat. The renovation of the main lobby will be complete in by mid-November and should really add a special appeal. All in all it's a great place for a Galveston getaway especially in the off-season.

No consistancy. No rules on condo owners that charge $150 a night then have dirty moldy smelling 70s vintage carpet, adirty teal wornout bathmat and an air conditioner that wouldnt go under 80 degrees. Skip room 1108. We spent the first night on balcony,it was so hot. They moved us next day. View, beach and pool are good. Nothing like it in Galveston but we didnt get a refund on first night camping on balcony. Its not worth the risk to get a crummy room and pay more than you would at the Hotel Galvez.

The Galvestonian was wonderful, very clean and quiet - the best beach in the city. The staff was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

We went to the Galvestonian this past June. It is a very nice property with a good pool and a great, clean beach that does not require crossing Seawall. Our one bedroom condo (306) had two large balconies over looking the gulf. It was nicely furnished and very clean. The appliances were old school but served the purpose. The only negative we experienced was from the staff. They were consistently non attentive and seemed to be bothered when you spoke to them. Luckily,we didn't have to much occasion to deal with them. For the price and location this is better then any of the Seawall hotels we have stayed in (San Luis, Hilton, & Holiday Inn). Give the staff an attidude adjustment and this place would be 1st rate.

We have been coming to the Galvestonian for the last 7 years and never have had a problem with reservations or their reservation system until this summer. We have been told several times rooms were available for July 2005 only to be called back and informed that their was nothing available. The online reservation system used to always work without any hitches, but the management team seems to not have a clue as to how to bring it back onone and working properly. It is such a shame that so many are probably experiencing the same probelm as us, because the facility is always first class....I guess we will be going to Disney World after all this summer

We stayed here in 1999 and it was great! So this year I booked a room on JANUARY 12TH!!! For the week of July 4th...I got a call YESTERDAY that 138 room reservations were LOST!!! Just gone.. So they overbooked..Told us there is nothing till AUGUST!! This was our 1 shot at our annual summer vacation! Thanks!! It is too late to book anywhere else...So a 2yr old, 5yr old and 13yr old are missing out this year..From what I read this is not the 1st time..Of course the guy that called said he is "new"..SO of course it is not his fault! I even have a confirmation number (and room number we were in!) and had given my American Express info?? Lost?? Who has it??
So this room that they booked to someone else is now theirs and not ours that was Supposedly being held since Jan 12th!!
Nice way to run a business!! I hope the other 138 rooms lost show up on his doorstep Monday the 4th and he has to tell them in person..Sorry you have to go back home!! He did try to get me a 1 bedroom (for 5 people..NO) on Mon and Tues!! We are driving 9 HOURS!! Sorry but we are not turning around and coming back home 9 HOURS for 2 days!!
If they lost 138 room reservations that could mean 138 families of 4 or more..A whole bunch of peoples trips just got ruined!
Any one else experience this?
