“2315 great condo; poor management; great pool; great price.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2010

This review is in three parts. The condo was great - #2315! Well furnished and comfortable; roomy and perfect with two young children. Sand toys, DVD player in master; I thought the price was very affordable - $133 a night with a week stay - couldn't find a price like that at the hotels over spring break. 2nd part of review....The management company ABSea Resorts struggled and was great at making excuses. I need to preface with the fact that Galveston and its properties are still significantly rebuilding and the general consensus is the insurance companies are not paying and therefore slow to rebuild. With that being said we originally reserved #2310 and it was not ready. A month before arrival we were moved to #2315. ABSea Resort did not provide current pictures of the correct view. We brought our grill accessories based on pictures. We were shocked when we saw that our view was a construction site rebuilding tables; grills and beach wall. We awoke each morning Mon-Fri to construction. We arrived and someone was stuck in an elevator. We had to walk and hike our groceries and luggage to our 3rd story room. The elevator continued to intermittenly work that week. The next day the water went out for 3 hours with no notice. The maintenance manager said that it was the only time each week he was permitted to shut off water for repairs and that the management was aware of this schedule but did not do anything to notify the guests. We ordered extra towels and they did not come until the next day after repeated request. When we arrived there was no beach access due to the walkway over the 'dune' not being complete. I do not recommend renting through this agency but rather through the VRBO or other services throughout the island. 3rd part...The property has a newly completed pool which was super - heated, nice size, 2 hot tubs and a kids pool. There were also some neat swings. Good security at gate and swimming pool. I am certain that in time with continued construction the property will be completed and I can recommend our condo...just be warned about the management.

We really had a nice time at the Seascape condos On South Padre Island. We had the last condo on the east end of the south wing and as such the wireless was so weak we had to go out on the balcony to use it. Everything else was great!

We have stayed at the Seascape Condos for the last 6 years. For a family of 5, plus all of our extended family (16 people total), this is absolutely perfect. We are able to book rooms together and ones that fit each of our needs. You must research your rooms. It has been trial and error to find the right room. We found our favorite about 4 years ago and stay there every time. It has a washer/dryer in the unit which helps keep our laundry down to a minimum for the return home and we keep our towels dry. They have a child's pool and regular pool which has been great with our varying kids' ages. The beach vaires each year, but it is nice to have a beach close to home. Galveston is one of our favorite family trips and we will be sad not to return this year due to Hurrican Ike. Seascape is rebuilding which is great news, but it may take another year for everything to be the way it used to be around Galveston. Our family trip will be moved this year because we really don't want to see our places until they are fixed up. This truly is a great place to stay, but really research your room choices.

Room 2207 was a great experience for my family and guest. We traveled from Austin to Galveston for a mini-vacation before the school year started up again. We had a room (2207) that overlooked the pool, hottub, the ocean, and the beach. The room was recently painted and redecorated. A new sleeper sofa was very comfortable for our guest. The bedroom had a color TV, DVD, and VCR player which was great for privacy. A new refrigerator was an added benefit for our stay. The unit flooring was wood and very comfortable. We will definitely be staying here again and look forward to our next trip to Seascape. Adios!

As other reviewers have noted, you must go to the Seascape website to view your room before booking. I have stayed at the Seascape five times. Three of the rooms were clean and well maintained. The others were pretty bad. This time we stayed in 2321 and it was the nicest so far. The housekeeping service is pretty poor, so take your own trash bags and cleaning stuff. The pool water was very warm and it was always jam packed. The elevators are hot and smelly. The beach area was the biggest improvement since our last stay. There was no seaweed and was very clean. The Seascape is not a hotel. You are pretty much on your own for things that you normally have fast service for in a nice hotel. It is however, right on the beach and away from all the Sea Wall traffic and noise, but only minutes from everything you need. Research, research, research!!

Any place but this would be better! The only thing going for it is that it is on the beach. Everything needs maintenance. Tiny unit, over priced, carpet looks to be 4 or 5 years old, and for a beach place this is way too old!

The place is a dump for the price they charge. Do not be fooled by their website that claims it is the best rated place of 2006. If that is true, it has declined rapidly in the past 2 years.

I recommend any place but the SeaScape!

When we decided to visit Galveston, we really wanted to stay right on the beach. We also wanted a place that had a pool. We found the Seascape condos. I viewed EVERY picture on their website and for the price we were willing to spend, we settled on condo 2217 (one bedroom/one bath/bunk beds and pull out couch). There were a couple of good reviews on that particular condo on Tripadvisor, so we took the chance. Anyone reviewing options need to realize this is NOT a hotel. Each unit is individually owned and varies. The property is managed by AB Sea Rentals. They are the ones who maintain the property and clean the units.

Our unit has been updated in the past couple of years and it was appealing to look at. I made sure and got a unit that faced the ocean (versus the pool or parking lot). The condo was fairly clean. The Seascape website informs you that cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, extra towels are NOT provided. I purchased some cleaning supplies and dish liquid at the dollar store before we left. Once we arrived at the condo, I quickly used Clorox wipes over everything and sprayed the tub with bleach. It definitely could have been cleaner, but overall was not too bad. However, the shower curtain was DISGUSTING with mildew. When we showered, we had to leave it opened (it was that gross) however, I did not ever tell the management company until we checked out (too busy doing other things!) Next time, I would bring more towels. There was not enough for us to use for the week. Thankfully, I brought 4 extra just in case. I probably would have gone to WalMart to purchase some if we had stayed longer. The unit was pleasantly decorated. My kids loved the bunk beds. The bedroom was fine but a little cramped with the king sized bed. I do wish I had brought hangers, but we made due with the few that were there. There was a TV mounted up in the bedroom which had cable but no remote. Who wants to lay in bed and watch TV without a remote? It also made a weird ringing noise on certain channels. The kitchen was very nice to have. We loaded up the fridge with drinks and food for breakfast and lunches. They did have plates/cups/etc. but I preferred to use disposable when possible. There was an adequate coffee maker (which does not stop dripping if you pull out the pot for a quick cup before it is finished brewing....learned that the hard way) I personally thought the living area had too much in it. There were three barstools where two would have been much easier to use. The wastebasket was right next to the bar and my kids kept tripping over it. I think something under the sink would have given more space. There was an ottoman for the chair that we used, but there were also two wicker footstools, that honestly took up too much precious space when it came to having 5 people in a small area. Some of the wicker decor made it appealing to look at, but it was such a small space, that it would have been nice to not have it there at all. The patio was nice. The heavy, high iron furniture was okay, but a bit rusted.

The view from this unit was very nice!! Every morning I took a cup of coffee out there and watched the surf and sunrise. They are building new condos on the east side of the condos so it does distract from the view a bit, but still it was enjoyable.
We only visited the pool one time. It seemed fine and the kids liked it, they just rather play at the beach. The beach was much cleaner than I had anticipated. Not a lot of seaweed, it was raked a couple of times during our stay. It was WONDERFUL to walk to the beach. We left our umbrellas and chairs in the trunk of the car and just grabbed them on our way out to the beach. It truly was like a private beach. There was a shower and hose to used after spending time in the sand.

One thing I had not realized that might be helpful for someone, the parking is on the ground level under the condos. So, a condo on the first floor is actually not ground level. I did not realize this and since we wanted to be up, I just did not look at the first floor apartments with much consideration. The overall appearance of the buildings were a bit dated and in need of maintenance. The elevators were slow, the luggage carts and parking spaces could be hard to come by. However, being so close to the beach and having a beautiful view more than made up for the Seascapes shortcomings. 2217 was a nice, updated unit that would have been even better if it was cleaner, however that is not the fault of the owner of the unit, but of the Seascape management. After all said and done, we would choose to stay at unit 2217 again, but definitely not just any of the units at the Seascape condominiums.
