Stayed for a night before checking into a beach house with friends. We had booked a $99 room on line and we were upgraded to a pool/ocean view with a nice little balcony. Room was spacious and clean, nice bathroom with separate vanity area. We didn't bring swimsuits but the pool was heated so we'll bring suits next time! I had gone out for a morning run and when I came in, the bellman was so sweet and stopped me to give me a cold bottle of water and we visited for a few minutes as well. All of the staff that we encountered were very friendly.

We stayed here a few nights and had a great time. It was really cold when we went but the pool was heated and the hot tub was nice and hot. Just right across the street from the beach! Use your cell phone if you have one to make calls instead of using their phone in the room, they charge for local calls

My wife and I stayed here as part of a group tour of 18 prior to getting on a Royal Caribbean cruise the night on January 15-16, 2011. We stayed in room 512. The hotel itself is in a busy neighborhood with a Kroger grocery store a block away (but good luck buying pre-cruise booze there on a Sunday! :-( ) and the Rain Forest Cafe next door. The RFC is a fun place to eat--it's a tropical rain-forest themed restaurant with a Build A Bear restaurant and a little Disney-like river ride inside. (The ride costs $6, and was fun once, but I'm not sure if I'd do it again if we're ever there again.)

The hotel has a pool, but as it was very cold the day we were there, we didn't use it. Looks nice, though, with rock waterfalls and all, and a swim-up bar.

The hotel has a nice, modern lobby area with a breakfast nook, conference center, and small gift shop. The lobby has a rather confusing layout, and even though it's small I got turned around in it a couple of times. One great feature is that you get a free newspaper from a rack there (the Galveston paper rather than the Houston paper, but it's OK for what it is) . . . that's a good plus for me, as I always like to read the local papers when I travel.

The bell staff is friendly and professional, and had our bags to our room within just a few minutes.

The room itself: Large and spacious, with very comfortable beds. I generally do not sleep well in hotels. In this case, though, I fell asleep almost instantly. The room had a large balcony with a great view of the ocean right outside.

The inroom coffee provided is very weak: I held out for the coffee shop's brew downstairs.

We ate breakfast at the lobby restaurant. Even though it was not at all busy at 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday, service was slow. The food itself was okay (not great), but overall was a good value as it was reasonably priced.

Our sole complaint is with the elevators: they are very slow and crowded. We found it easier to take the stairs up and down. (Better exercise, too! :-) )

Overall, we're glad we stayed at the Hilton Galveston.

Got a great deal with AAA, and, its off season. Room had a balcony with a view. Recommend the main building Not the tower. The tower rooms don't have balcony's. Bathroom was a little small and the tub and surround were a bit tired, but otherwise just fine. Room was plenty big enough. Bed was very comfortable. TV was high quality flat screen. Only negative was the maids making a bunch of noise in the hallway in the morning; but, I've experienced that at 5 star hotels. All in all, for a stay in Galveston, this was a good deal. Also, went to B Jiggers, their club/bar and danced to a great band. Nice crowd. Had a great time and the drinks were a very good value.
