First time in Galveston. Looked at reviews prior to booking. Although you may see a bad review in the bunch--it is a great place to stay. The room was very clean with good bedding, and spacious too. The breakfast was more than adequate and I found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. We checked in easily, was shown to our room, walked to our choice of restaurants, and ate fresh seafood. The next morning we went to the lounge area, grabbed a coffee and toasted bagel with a muffin or two, and headed back to our room with it for our breakfast. Just perfect.

Boarded the Voyager by 1:00 p.m. with a shuttle the hotel provided.

It was a lovely stay.

We stayed here on a Saturday night before our cruise 3/16/08.

We enjoyed the location right near the pier. There are several resturants to walk to. Plus, tons of shopping as well!

The rooms were larger than most we have stayed at and had a small fridge and microwave! They were very clean and well kept. Even though the decor was sparse, I didnt mind, I loved having the extra sitting area in my room. (a couch and chair and coffe table) We got a great view of the cruise ships out our window, and we were on the third floor.

The breakfast was simple, yogurt, muffins, oatmeal, fruit, coffee, juice, and milk. But we are not big eaters and we were going to get tons of food on our cruise.

We walked from this hotel to the cruise dock and it only took about 6 minutes. This was GREAT!! We didnt have to wait on a shuttle! We left our car for the week at the hotel for $20 and walked back after our cruise was over.

There are 2 museums right next door to this hotel as well. Even though there isnt a beach--we didnt miss it at all.

We have found our new pre-cruise hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone!! The staff was wonderful, the hotel was clean, easy to get in and out of and you can watch the cruise ships come in on Sundays!

On a whim, we decided to stay their for one night. We arrived a bit late. Check in was fine, although the clerk did not seem to know much about Galveston. They did not even have a local map.

The room was large and nicely decorated, albeit a bit worn.So much for the positive.

The TV did not work. When we called down, they said they would send a technician up. Since we were already in bed, we passed. On checkout, I reminded them of the problem. The reaction was interesting. " Yes that is not unusual. There are some programmimg issues". She made no record for future repair

The sound insulation is so poor that you can hear a television 3 rooms away. As my wife said, when you can tell the sex of a person when they are peeing, it is not good. If you actually want to sleep, do not stay here.

We stayed for 1 night at this hotel. The rooms are very big for a hotel. Its in the historic district, although we didn't get to walk around much since we spent the day at Moody Gardens. The breakfast isn't anything super but free and something to start the day with. There's a great view of the harbor but we didn't see a lot of activity. That could be because of a fog bank that moved in. We couldn't even see the Gulf from Seawall drive. For people with kids, staying close to the beaches would be better if you're not driving. The hotels on the Gulf though are expensive but it's a 5-10 minute drive from this hotel. You can park along the road and walk to the beach. For the money we paid, and knowing how much the other hotels cost along the Gulf, we were pleased with our stay at the Harbor House.

Disregard all the bad reviews. This is a great place to stay. It was clean, safe, and the staff was professional. The location can't be beat...close to the Strand and several great restaurants. You do have to pay for parking but you will be parking in a safe, private lot with a entry code. We will be back.

the hotel is well located, right on the wter and near The Strand. However, the decor is dated. Worst is there is little lighting in the room. No overhead light and minimal other lamps. The breakfast room is a makeshift lounge and there is no room to sit. A few chairs so people were sitting on the large coffee table. It is nice to include a continental brakfast, which was good, but plese hve a seating area!

We loved this hotel. Staying on the harbor side definitely has it's advantages. Only one block from the Strand, we walked a lot. And no sand to get in everything. The hotel was great. Very comfortable beds, fridge and microwave in the room, and very spacious. The breakfast was fine. Pretty basic but a decent selection of juices, yogurt, and breads. Great coffee. I believe they are adding a restaurant sometime within the next year. We will definitely stay there on our next trip.
