The beach across the street from the hotels are just as nice as the beach parks you pay to enter. The $8 for Stewart beach was no better than the FREE beach across the street from our room at the La Quinta. You can rent umbrellas and chairs at both beaches for approx $30

We walked along the seawall every night we were there. Alot of the crosswalk lights don't work but the lights give plenty of time for you to cross. The beaches were well kept and there are portapoties in the high foot tragic areas.

We enjoyed long walks along the seawall. They have really cleaned it up since I was a kid. It's a TX beach yes, but it's nicer than expected!

The Seawall is part of miles of beach access, shops, restaurants and places to stay. I enjoyed driving along it and soaking it all in.

The Seawall stretches eight miles along the Gulf side of the island as part of its storm defenses and comprises a road with pavement (Seawall Boulevard) and beaches. It's perfect for a long stroll or even just a quick wander. The pavements are straight and flat, while the beaches are quite narrow (I'm told this is a leftover from Hurricane Ike) but almost deserted. On the opposite side to the beaches, the road is lined with restaurants and souvenir shops.

This is by far the nicest place to walk that I've ever seen. I walked from 61st to 25th along the road and then back through the surf and thoroughly enjoyed it in both directions. If you have horrific jetlag like I do and you're awake at 6am every day, the fishing piers also make an incredible view point to sit and watch the sun rise.

Good points: gentle walk, beautiful views.

Bad points: it can get very hot so take water.
