Owner description: Walk along this eight-mile seawall built to protect Galveston from the raging winds and waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

No. It is not Cozumel. The beaches are not pristine but I still love the seawall. We walked with the kids for about an hour just watching people and played on the beach. We did rent two chairs and an umbrella. It was pricey but worth it.

Galveston Beach is what it is....they've done a good job with hurricane recovery and trying to enliven the area. The challenge is that they're paying for it with pay-by-phone parking and some new bars. It's still a family-friendly place, but the atmosphere has changed a bit. Pleasure Pier is really pretty at night and the different beaches are well maintained. It just seems pretty costly for the value you get in return. You also have to navigate through a lot of people, cars and traffic. It's not really different from other popular beach towns, but just know what to expect before you go. It takes a long time to drive and find your way through this area.

We did not investigate it since we were headed out of town, but there was a notice in our hotel lobby about how Galveston was going to start charging to park on Seawall. Overall Seawall is nice, though the east end of the beach is more rocks than beach. It's a nice place for a beach experience.

The seawall is fun to walk along and gaze out to the ocean, or a romantic moonlight stroll, the seawall is family friendly with easy access to the beach and snow cone carts are always a favorite

It is a seawall. It is a great place to watch people go by, both locals and tourists. Summer is of course prime watching time. There are lots of restaurants across the street so you won't have to walk too far to get an ice cream. Go buy a sandwich at Murdoch's and sit on their breezy porch and watch the world amble by...
