We enjoyed many hours at the ART ober FEST before visiting the Strand, and purchasing many presents for family and friends. Every store had something, or many special things making it hard to decide what to buy. We enjoyed the tranquil street atmosphere very much.

Just enough shops and stores to cover them in one days time. No real standouts. Lots of eateries as well. Stores close early on week nights, so make it a day time trip.

I take a trip to Galveston at least once to twice a year and always try to make it down to the strand. This time we took a carriage ride which was very enjoyable and educating as well. Every time I explore this area of Galveston I always see something new and interesting that will bring me back. Love the laid back attitudes as well as the great shops.

If you happen to see Blake and Jericho (the horse) on the Strand, by all means take the tour. Blake was very knowledgeable and very friendly. Blake offered us a history of Galveston Island and also mixed in a little bit of ghost lore and personal history relevant to the tour. He was very detail oriented and very interesting and Jericho knew exactly how to get around Galveston. Blake directed us to the best restaurants and we were not disappointed with his recommendations. He also laughed with us and had the best personality you would want in a tour guide. The best part was that we didn't have to pull information out of him. We got more than we expected for our money and we even got to give Jericho a treat at the end of the ride.
