“Shopping on the Strand”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Shopping on the Strand isn't crazy out of the ordinary, but it is awesome to see the old culture and to see what each shop has to offer. My husband and I have been there a few times, and it's always a pleasure to go and we always make sure to eat at one of the quaint little shops. You will see tons of different people and it's a great way to spend your afternoon.

“The Awesome Strand”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Me and my husband went to Galveston for our 12th Anniversary and went on the Strand. We had the best time ever. We went to all the shops, we love the shops they have the most unique shops on the strand. We had a couple of beers at the brewery. We will be going again.

“The Famous Strand District”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Wonderful safe place to wonder around and look at all the shops. Many beautiful clothes shops but lots of artsy places as well. Had lunch outside at one of the cafes. Great way to spend a few hours just relaxing and enjoying the scenery.

“tourists need to show some respect for our neighborhood”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

the tourists are very respectful during the day but on the weekends at night, people turn into animals. i am moving out of the neighborhood because i'm tired of people coming here from out of town, destroying my property and peace.

“Fun Place to Shop and People Watch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

I have walked The Strand a few different times, including before and after a cruise. The Strand is conveniently located one block from the cruise terminal, in the historic district of Galveston. The Strand (downtown) area was built around the same time as the French Quarter in New Orleans and there are many similarities between the 2 historic districts. There are a lot of places along The Strand to shop, eat and drink. We took one of the nightly ghost tours that was very informative and a lot of fun. We went the weekend after Labor Day and it was not crowded. It can get very crowded in the summer and during holiday months. This is a great area to spend some time during your stay in Galveston or before or after your cruise.
