I didn't get to take advantage of all the Galvez offers because I was there on business. However, my stay was go great that I hope to come back for pleasure and stay. Beautiful hotel! I did use the fitness room and found it very satfisfactory.

We stayed in a king on the 6th floor w a gulf view. Room size was adequate for 2 adults and a small child. Everything was wonderful and can't wait to come back. Parking garage is across the street but convenient and free. Nothing negative to say about the hotel and loved the history and location. Made our vacation.

We booked a "clean air" room - we requested 6th floor. Upon check in, service was excellent. We had booked a King with a roll-a-way. We went to the room and it was very small, unable to get a roll-a-way in, went back to front desk and asked for a little bigger room, got another room that was acceptable. once we started unpacking our son pointed out that someone had vomited all over the couch, it was on the picture above the couch, the wall and slung at the floor lamp shade as well. We took pictures and went back down again to the front desk. Showed the pics to the manager and they said they would clean it up as we went out to dinner, when we returned they offered to give us a bigger gulf view room on the 3rd floor, we agreed and moved to that room. after a noisy night (room is in front of elevator) we showered in cold water because the faucet handle was broken. My husband went back to the front desk and asked that we move to a clean air room which we had booked on the 6th floor. We were moved to rm 618 which was acceptable, pleasant, quiet, and wonderful. We have had a history with the Galvez for ten (10) years coming to the Galvez 2-3 times a year. Needless to say we were very disappointed. While the lobby and common areas are exemplary, the same can not be said for the condition/cleanliness of the guest rooms. It is extremely disappointing since the Galvez has been remodeled in the last couple of years. The rooms are already feeling dingy. We do not know if the problem just lies with housekeeping or if it is a design flaw from the decorators. However; the remodeled Clean air floors are much nicer to stay on, and the bathroom remodels were outstanding. We have enjoyed the Galvez for years, but we are finding ourselves looking at other hotel options in the Galveston area.

Our overall stay at the Galvez was nice. No complaints. This hotel has come a long way! They serve chilled water with fruit and that really adds a wonderful touch after a very long drive from far away. The staff was friendly and courteous. Side note, the bar outside the pool area does close at 9:00pm. However, the bartender does make last calls and will bring you your drinks. That was nice. Also, the elevator does take awhile to catch. It is the only one, due to it's age of the hotel itself. Not much you can do on that. I would recommend this hotel. extra tip, as well, there is parking located in the back. You can use your hotel key card to get into the gate and it's locked up out there with iron gates. We felt safe. My kids loved the pool and the surranding area of the pool They were even offered a popicle. Great touches to this trip!!!! We will be back!!!

The mattress was too firm and the hall noise in the middle of the night was awful.

Many great attributes.

The Hotel was clean, service was efficient and friendly, and the property is beautiful.

The proximity to the beach is a definite plus. The poolside service was amazing and added a lot to our family's stay.

One thing I didn't like was the tiny room and being in the room directly across from the elevator was noisy at times during the night. Also, our room had a (locked) door into the room next to ours and a large family with lots of small kids was in that room, so it was quite noisy there too. Not the kids' fault, but a big family like that should not share a thin door with another room. We had two kids with us too, but they are older and able to be quiet in the room so as not to disturb others.
