Owner description: Discover Frank Buck Zoo for a one of a kind family experience. Located in 85-acre tree filled Leonard Park which offers picnic tables, two covered pavilions, a sprawling community playground, Leonard Park Aquatic Center (seasonal), and miniature train ride (seasonal). An ideal value priced day trip destination for families and youth organizations. Discounted admission available for school groups. Located right in the heart of Gainesville, Texas, the Frank Buck Zoo has been serving the children, schools and citizens of North Central Texas and Southern Oklahoma for over 50 years. Over 75,000 guests visit the Frank Buck Zoo annually. In March of 2008 the Frank Buck Zoo became home to the World's Only Frank Buck Exhibit when Frank's daughter Barbara Buck befriended the zoo staff and donated items that belonged to her father. Resulting in a fascinating collection of camp tools used to capture animals and media memorabilia from the 1930, 1940, & 1950's. Be sure to plan your zoo arrival in time to experience the 10:30am daily public giraffe feeding. Experience a "giraffe's eye-view" of the African Savannah exhibit from an elevated walkway, the exhibit is home to eight different species of animals. Pause to take in the view at the African Outpost overlooking the water hole. Be sure to have quarters on hand so little ones can feed the friendly goats.

We often travel to Gainesville and we finally went to the Frank Buck Zoo.. We were so glad we did.. It is not a large zoo but is perfect for the kids - Just enough animals and small enough they do not get exhausted walking through it.. We payed extra and they got to feed the Girafe which was so neat! They also have a great park to play on after..

Loved this zoo. Nice location (next to a nice park), plan on taking the grandkids several times this summer (nice fact that they will give you a season's pass at a cheap rate). I would enjoy going back several times and just hanging out, it's that kind of place. The bridge that crosses the zebra/giraffe exhibit allows you to view the animals from above. It is a smaller zoo than Dallas Zoo, but still very nice and well laid-out. Be sure to use the potty or get a drink before you begin, or you'll find yourself back-tracking (only bathroom is at the front gate of the zoo) : )

The Frank Buck Zoo is set behind a great park / picnic area.

The zoo itself if very affordable. It was smaller than I expected, we had seen the entire zoo in one hour.

We were pleased to have the opportunity to hand feed a giraffe! Such a great photo op too!

The zoo has a very interesting history; take the time to ask an employee to tell the story :-)

We decided to come check out the zoo and it was smaller than I expected it to be but was still fun. I wish it didn't have all the slopes and hills but it was nicely laid out. Make sure you get a drink upfront because you won't find another spot to. The animals were kept in small cages and didn't have a lot of room though.
