I went out of my way to take in lunch at Rudy's in Frisco, TX. I shouldn't have. The brisket sandwich was just so-so. Yes, I love the seasoning used (spicy) and the BBQ sauce is certainly above average. But I've come to expect that really good BBQ brisket is tender, not tough. This brisket was tough. I've had lots better.

I ordered a side of Rudy's baked beans and again was underwhelmed as compared with others in the Dallas area. The taste was okay but I just didn't enjoy the consistency nor the Styrofoam cup it is served in.

The ambiance is nice -- this place has lots of people capacity, with fun artifacts hanging all over the place. Frankly I was surprised that there weren't more people there for lunch.

All considered, when factoring in the price, I think Rudy's is just average -- you can do better at other Dallas area BBQ establishments.

Loved the smoked turkey and brisket!! It is a neat little restaurant; has a little store in it too!! Prices are reasonable and everything was delicious!! Was right next to our hotel which made it easy to get to! Employees were awesome too! Will go back when in the area again!!

When we pulled up, it was a bit disconcerting. It was a gas station. But inside, beyond the pumps, was a tasty southern barbecue pit with an auto garage motif and a picnic atmosphere. The staff was helpful for us first-timers. The meats and sides were all very tasty.

Rudy's is a chain that specializes in BBQ. Meat is served by the pound or increments of a pound. The salads are in Styrofoam cups in a cooler. It's difficult to figure out what you need to make up a meal and the salads are ordinary to tasteless and poor. When it's busy the lines are long and slow as people agonize over how much meat and what type they need. The BBQ is good but nothing special. Overall the experience was just OK. There is much better in the area.

This place is right of the highway, next to Target, GameStop and everything you can call on to get your family into the restaurant. Enjoy the food and atmosphere. You must limit yourself....otherwise a BBQ belly will surely errupt. Watch out!
