Fantastic Stay!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 27, 2016
Just got home from spending a week at the Westin Stonebriar Hotel. What a great property!
I was fortunate enough to get upgraded to a suite due to my Starwood status, and absolutely loved it.
The food was excellent in the restaurant, bar, and Room Service.
We'll definitely be back for another stay.

I had been in Dallas for a friend's birthday. I was in the Legacy Park area and decided to stay at the Stonebriar about 11pm in the evening. The room appeared clean enough, except for the oily gooey substance on the back of the bathroom door, but I think it was grease for the door that some how smeared across the back of the door in the middle. After dozing off about midnight, I woke up at 5:30am almost 100% congested. I'd been in Dallas since about 11am, no allergy problems. I'm in that room for 5-6 hours and I have an ear and nose that is completely clogged and my eye is running. I noticed that my clothes had a faint mold/mildew smell in my suitcase after sitting in the room overnight with me. I can't lay down or sleep because my congestion. I try walking around the room to see if it will clear. No luck. About 6:30am, I packed up my stuff and went to breakfast. Immediately my congestion clears within 5 minutes of getting out of the room. Breakfast was OK, not $20 good though. Coffee is just ok. On to the good, the hotel is beautiful. The area is very nice and feels very safe. Parking was easy even with a wedding wrapping up. The greens are beautiful too.

I stayed at the Westin Stonebriar for an extended stay while on a business trip. Overall, it's a lovely hotel and grounds. The staff is really nice, especially those covering the front door. Every time I walked up, they promptly opened the doors and if I was leaving for the day they always offered a bottled water for the road. Where there could be some improvement is in the housekeeping. I selected the green choice which typically means I'll let them know if I need anything. But each day, I would find they had been in the room and randomly gave me some refills but it wasn't consistent. That's not terrible, but I did find it weird when an empty tissue box was not replaced but had a new one just placed on top of the empty one. I also just don't like people coming in if it's not necessary and I haven't had it happen at other Starwood properties when I selected the green choice. The comforter on the bed was stained - so overall I think it's just a lack of attention to detail which can be corrected. I also wouldn't suggest getting a pool view room since the sounds carry right into your room. I'm glad people were having fun, but the windows were not thick enough to keep the sound out.

All that said, I would stay there again since there aren't deal breakers, just feedback for the hotel to improve.

To: Whom it may concern...

Its Monday night, the week of Thanksgiving week and my wife and I just checked into the Westin StoneBriar Resort in Frisco Texas. I am a life Time Platinum, joining in 1996 with over 1000+ nights staying in Starwood properties. I’ve stayed at some awesome SPG properties over the years and I am very loyal to SPG. To this point, I was hotel guest #2 to stay at the StoneBriar Resort when the original GM opened the doors. This GM who is at another Westin Property would be very upset to learn of this email… I've stayed in this property over 50 times over years but will never again after this stay...

By far, this has to be the worst customer service experience during my check in process that I've ever had in my 20 years of staying in Starwood hotels... This hotel is slow in occupancy but was told there is no rooms available to accommodate a possible paid or non paid upgrade to a little larger room. For the Non paid upgrades are provided off of status level and are typically given when rooms are available..

After further requesting to check other room types of availabilities, I was then informed that the Owners of the Stonebriar Westin Hotel are in town and all the Owners have the larger rooms... Unbelievable!

Really??, the Owners have all the larger possible upgrade-able rooms over a loyal life time platinum that keeps the doors open day in and day out and that have been overly loyal to the Starwood brand for 20+ years... Very Very very disappointed in this and have reached out to the General Manage to discuss, with no avail..

This is probably the worst excuse/accommodation ever and on top of not being able to get a better room felt no loyalty in return or appreciation of all of the years of my loyalty.. I will never stay in this Westin Stone Briar Property again and I want everyone reading this that have spent a career being loyal to Starwood and particular to the Westin Stonebriar Resort, there is no loyalty at this property for a Lifetime Platinum...

Pretty obvious that this Westin Stonebriar Resort has NO loyalty to their LifeTime Platinum guests… Stay away, there are plenty of other Starwood or other National Hotel chains in the greater Dallas area that would love to have your business and loyalty…

Very Disappointed!

We have a board meeting in this hotel every year and play golf the following day. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with fairly large bathrooms, which I like. The bar is a great meeting place and always lively. They serve good bar food and my filet was perfect. There is a wonderful, large heated pool and the golf course is beautiful.

I stayed with my family for 5 nights back in April. We booked an executive room and as an spg gold member, I hoped for an upgrade to a suite but there were none available. The hotel entrance, lobby, restaurant and bar presented well but the rooms could do with being refurbished.
Breakfast was excellent with home made waffles freshly prepared in the dining room.
The exterior pool and seating area was pleasant but the hotel is not labelled as a resort and so lacks atmosphere by the pool. If this area was expanded and food and drink attendants came round on hot days, I suspect it would be more popular.
The hotel lacks a Club Lounge which would also enhance the quality of stay. There are a handful of restaurants within close proximity including Silver Fox steakhouse which is well worth visiting but otherwise you will need a car. This is a good hotel but not as good as many other Westins and it would benefit from some improvements.
