I think there are two hotels on surfside beach (plenty of houses for rent, though). On an impromptu excursion from Galveston, we drove south to the end of the island and found this charming town and decided to spend the night. The motel needs some aesthetic work, but our room s clean, shower worked well, satellite TV functioned, and there was a microwave and fridge in the room. We stayed on the second floor and had a nice view of the ocean from the landing, and the hotel is right on the beach. I would imagine that the first floor rooms don't have much of a view. The only restaurants in town that we received recommendations for are within a mile radius of the hotel. Overall a good experience. If we were to return, we might try the ocean vista hotel connected to Pirate's Alley Cafe just to change it up, but we had no complaints about this place.
