Very cute individual cottages with good bed in attractive setting. A bit off putting upon arrival to be told no bar, restaurant closed for dinner, get ice bucket filled by 5 PM or get no ice. Apparently the property is untended after 5PM? One reason we chose this place was so that we wouldn't have to go out again to eat after a long drive. The man who took my reservation bragged on the restaurant. He said nothing about it only being open weekend evenings. Bath sink was uncomfortably high. Shower floor of river rocks looks great but is hard on the feet. No TV guide so it was Russian roulette to find your channel. No comfortable chairs for visiting or tv watching inside. How easy is this to fix? Come on people. Lovely outdoor seating, though.

Hubby and I just spent a weekend at this charming B & B off the Main Street in Fredericksburg. Approximately four blocks off Main Street this resort is located in a residential area. The Sunday Haus Cottages were just so cute and comfy. Simple, clean and cozy. The cottage had a spacious bedroom and bath with walk in shower. Spacious vanity. Note that there is limited hanging clothes space. Bed was very comfortable. Mini fridge and microwave were a plus.

The gardens/ landscaping are well done and probably are just beautiful in warmer months. On site gift shop was ok but nothing special compared to the shopping on Main Street. We did not take advantage of the Spa, but suspect it would be quite enjoyable.

The big plus to us was the food at the restaurant. A very enjoyable dinner, Sunday brunch and Monday morning breakfast! Food was well prepared and presented. Portions were substantial....I did a lot of indulging because everything tasted so good. The breakfast Cinnamon Roll appetizer should not be missed! Large enough for. 2 people to share. Freshly baked and oozing with sugary goodness. The omelet with vegetables and goat cheese was killer. At dinner we found the pork chop to be at least the 10 ounces described on the menu. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The server recommended the mac and cheese side, which was a solid mass of mac and cheese in bread crumbs and deep fat fried. I did not find it to be especially flavorful and was too crisp/hard to enjoy...select another side.

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage with a front porch swing! We enjoyed cottage number 7.

This is best B&B in town and we've stayed at them all. Individual cottages situated near the restaurant, bar, spa and fire pit surrounded by nature. They custom make and blend their own candles, soaps and shampoos from the gardens. My wife loves and buys cases of their custom made spearmint lotions and shampoos. The expansive paved herb garden is yours to explore while you take a relaxing stroll surrounded by aromatic herbs after your unforgettable breakfast or Sunday brunch experience. Wow!
Furthermore, make reservations for dinner. Their food is homemade, homegrown with locally raised beef and pork. We prefer the food and exceptional and friendly service from Alex over the pretentious and overpriced Navajo Grill and the loud and impersonal Cabernet Grill. The food and atmosphere at the Herb Garden is personal, intimate and will have you coming back for sure!
I'm not a typical B&B guy, however my wife and this place has converted me. A quiet and relaxing oasis just blocks from the shops on Main Street and the vineyards down 290! We are regulars and after one stay you will be as well!

My best friend from Maine and I made an overnight stay in one of their lovely cottages. She has only been to Texas once before so this was a great way to show her some of the German heritage of our state. Everything was just great. We had a fabulous Cosmo in their Bistro Bar the evening we checked in and a wonderful breakfast in their beautiful restaurant the next morning. We also bought great herbal products and Christmas ornaments in their gift shop and had fabulous massages at their spa. Our cottage was so quiet and well appointed. Parking was close and convenient. We had a really comfortable King size bed and large open concept bathroom. Plenty of room for 2. The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. If you plan a trip to Fredericksburg, Texas, the Fredericksburg Herb Farm, Bistro Bar, Restaurant, Sunday Cottages and Day Spa are a must.

Room Tip: All the cottages are in the same vicinity and are basically the same floorplan. Because no one unde...

My husband and I planned to stay one night in one of the cottages. Our arrival was on Monday, (a scheduled closed day), but they had everything set up and ready to make us welcome. The grounds and atmosphere are wonderful, even in the winter month of December. After going out in the evening we came back to twinkling lights decorating the grounds.

Everyone at the farm was very friendly and at the delicious breakfast our waitress Tiffany took very good care of us. When our plans changed unexpectedly, Lynn was very kind and able to accommodate us to extend our stay one more night. I also visited the gift shop and made some delightful purchases for Christmas gifts. I didn't get the name of the woman running the gift shop, but she was very helpful with the selections.

We loved sitting on the porch of the cottages and just relaxing. The entire experience was truly a "wonderful getaway" and we can't wait to come back. Thank you!

My husband and I just experienced the most wonderful getaway at The Herb Farm. The Sunday Cottages were unique and the accommodations were excellent. The beds were so comfortable, we both slept better than we have on most vacations. The meals that we participated in were wonderfully prepared and served in a gracious setting. We were greeted by Lynn, who made us feel most welcome and provided helpful information about our visit to Fredericksburg. The gift shop managed by Doris was filled with unique gifts and creative curios. The location of the Herb Farm, four blocks from Main Street, was exceptionally convenient. We met Rosemary when she almost "sprayed" my husband as she was personally watering the grounds. This is a "hands on" owner operation. We loved it!

Girls weekend was exceptional! The Herb Farm transforms you into a world of total relaxation, the grounds the spa the restaurant, the employees! Rose was the first person we met and what a beautiful woman and soul, truly enjoyed talking with her. She 'set us up' to have a drink at the bar, Bad [--] Iced Tea (not much iced tea in that drink, but excellent) we enjoyed our time with Mike, the bar tender and while drinking and chatting with him we assisted him in creating a new drink....lots of cherries! We then proceeded to dinner where we were attended to by Alex, excellent job, we enjoyed chatting with, a very kind gentleman....and the food was without exception some of the best I have ever had. I said it when I first arrived at the Herb Farm and I will say again, "I want to live there"

Love the place, the entire place is magical......can't wait to come back

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Sunday house cottages are unique to this area. German settlers would build these small “City Houses” to use on weekends when they came to town to buy provisions for the week and to also attend Sunday Church services. The Sunday Haus Cottages at The Fredericksburg Herb Farm are patterned after three of the most popular historical designs. Each cottage is similar in ways, yet different in others. The cottages provide all the comforts of home including a king bed, bathroom with shower, granite vanity with vessel sink, comfortable seating, flat screen HD video, high speed internet, ceiling fans and rockers on a porch bordered by white jasmine blossoms. Crushed granite, winding paths lead from the cottages to the Spa, Restaurant, Gardens and Retail Shop. An arbor with two, wide cedar swings provide a relaxing interlude for reflections of times gone by. ... more   less
