The Texas landscape is dotted with places like this – unassuming places that simply turn out excellent barbeque. I have been fortunate to eat in many of these type places across the state. Cranky Frank’s did not disappoint us. We tried the brisket plate, cut from the lean end. It was tender and flavorful. The sides are a serve yourself, all you can eat offering, which included beans, coleslaw, potato salad and two types of pudding. No one leaves here hungry; we sure didn’t. At lunch time, the parking is a mish-mash of pick-ups, cars and 18 wheelers all eager to get their fill.
