We love the subtle flavors in the pasta dishes. Nothing is overpowering. Their sauces are very good. I got a huge portion of lasagna-delicious! Very busy place. Service has always been slow at this place but have a glass of wine and time goes quicker.

“Pleasant Meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2014

I read through some of the terrible reviews and thought it best I try to redeem some of them as we recently went to visit this little place. We had never been here before but it is located about a block from the Rockbox so decided to give it a try. We were able to park right across the street in front of the restaurant. As we entered the man at the front bar advised we could sit wherever. It was a Tues. eve so found a table by the wall. The decor is country Italian, nothing fancy but quaint and welcoming. They do have tablecloths on the table and the dining area is small. There appeared to be more seating in the back as the place filled up fairly quickly and we noticed at that point someone was seating people as they came in and taking them back somewhere. This is an odd thing to notice but while we were eating they were setting up several tables for a large group that I assume had a reservation. As they put the smaller tables together to make a large seating I noticed that every table matched perfectly next to the other. Most times when this is done the tables are wobbly and one higher than the other but these weren't. Just a little tidbit I decided to mention. Now to the service and food. The waitress was very prompt and were never left long without coming to check back and she was waiting several tables. She was very friendly and got everything correct. The menu has a variety and we noticed all different food being ordered by the customers. We ordered Chicken Parmigiana the #4 Shrimp. The food arrived must quicker than we expected and was a good temperature and nice presentation. The pricing was affordable for a very pleasant evening out. We would try them again and we finished in plenty of time to catch our showtime.

“Ok, not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2014 via mobile

I honestly believe Olive Garden is better and wished I'd gone there instead. The salad was plain with mostly balsamic vinegar. The calamari looked like thick straight fries, which was odd and not good. I think they have 2 sauces and doctor them up to sound like something better than they are.

“Olive Garden so much better”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2014 via mobile

Where to start? The only positive was that our waitress did her job and the place made her look good. Upon entering, we seated ourselves and a kid with with an earbud in his left ear tossed a couple of menus down on the table in front of us. Then throughout our meal he paced up and down the aisle staring at people, listening to his earbud, and chewing on a toothpick. Turns out he was the busboy, but despite his "staring," he rarely picked up on the fact that people had finished their dishes. Wait staff would eventually come up, ask, then hand him the dishes. His presence was very unsettling and an apparent waste of money for the business. Watching the cook chew on something (gum?) the entire time we were there was also disconcerting.

So the food. Bleh. The tomato sauce was sweet and bland, like tomato paste out of a can with added sugar. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. The meatballs were overcooked and dry as a meat cracker. The diced tomato with basil, garlic and olive oil. Well it was floating in oil with enough garlic to kill all the vampires as far north as Dallas, Texas. Now I love my garlic, as does my husband. But when your husband walks five feet away from you on the way back to the car and still cannot kiss you after you have brushed your teeth, and your tongue is tingling from the garlic, well let's just say they could have used a little bit less. The tomatoes were overcooked and mushy and the basil had little flavor. The salads were a joke and the dressing was obviously purchased in bulk and tasted gross.

Given our severe disappointment with the service, appetizer, salads, and entrees, we had no desire to stay for dessert and even less of a desire to return. Given that we could have (and have in the past) made tastier versions at home, or even had a more enjoyable and tastier meal at an Olive Garden restaurant (not our first choice for Italian food either), we fail to understand the positive reviews given to this restaurant.

“Alfredo sauce is excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2014

We. Had two different pasta dishes there just recently and they were both very very good.
This place is small and may lack in ambience but the food is so good for Italian in a German town.
We will go back.
