“Great Place!”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We stayed in Becky and Sam's bed and breakfast in late August. Although the weather was hot, our stay in Becky's Kitchen was wonderfully cool. We were a little concerned about not being within walking distance of town, but it turned out the location was perfect. A short drive from town, close to Cabernet Grill (a wonderful restaurant) and close to the other attractions, such as the LBJ Ranch, which we wanted to visit. Becky and Sam are great hosts and great cooks. We were very well cared for. We followed all their dinner recommendations and were very pleased. Thanks, Becky and Sam!

We spent two nights at the Chuckwagon Inn as a base for touring Fredericksburg and vicinity. The Inn is conveniently located on the edge of town. The room was quaintly decorated like a bunkhouse and was roomy and comfortable. Becky and Sam are great hosts, and the breakfasts are delicious and fun, with Sam furnishing his unique spin on things. We highly recommend this B&B for anyone wanting a convenient and comfortable place to stay in the Hill Country.

My wife and I have enjoyed Sam & Becky's B&B half-a-dozen times over the past 11 years, and they continue to offer a premium experience with a level of personal touch that is increasingly rare. The various rooms are scattered among buildings on the grounds that are rustic, spotless, comfortable and genuine. Several (our favorites) have porches and swings, a perfect place to enjoy the hill country breezes with a glass of wine (or two...or three...) as afternoon turns to evening. Each room has a little something different to offer, and all are enjoyable. And to top it off...the breakfasts. Arrange your plans so that you do NOT miss 9am breakfast (and don't be late, lest your fellow guests help themselves to your share). We've never had a breakfast there that we didn't talk about (favorably!) later. If you're looking for a place to stay in the area, you won't be disappointed with Chuckwagon.
AND while you're there - don't miss Cabernet Grill and Der Lindenbaum for dinners, and if you like really good wine, go to Hilmy Cellars and Santamaria Cellars. You'll miss the crowds but you will get great wines.

my wife and i stayed here for our 4th anniversary and we could not have been happier. Sam and Becky are really amazing people. the breakfast was fantastic both mornings (the pancakes are exceptional and the biscuits were to die for!). the room we stayed in (the larry bill) was just perfect. SUPER clean (cleaner then most hotels i have stayed at), the bed was awesome (so much so i ordered the sheets online once we got home) and the AC worked perfect. we slept great both nights. i can't wait to go back.

The Chuckwagon Inn located just outside of Fredericksburg was our home for the weekend. I say “HOME” as we were certainly welcomed and treated as family for the weekend. My husband and I flew into the Gillespie County Airport on Friday afternoon and this comfy B&B is tucked in the trees near the airport. Now don’t let this discourage you, it’s a PILOT’S dream place to stay and be pampered by the most wonderful host…Sam & Becky. Sam picked us up from the airport and from the minute we met him, he was a delight!

Becky was so gracious & welcoming and booking our room was easy. Their place was ‘blooming’ with beautiful plants and flowers. We enjoyed sitting in the Cantina and relaxing outside watching the planes take off and land at the airport. The noise is nothing to worry about…a gentle hum as the plane descends will delight camera and video fans.

Our cabin was spotless and very comfy. Everything you need was provided. We like having a mini fridge for our drinks. The grounds are shady and welcoming. You can sit on your private balcony or downstairs in the Cantina which has a TV, tables and music if you like. We met Paco and Elton, the resident pets that were very sweet & talented. They don’t bother you at all unless you want to share some “love” they will come a running!

We went to the County Fair/horse races where Sam & Becky offered to give us a ride to and from as we didn’t have a car. The meals were scrumptious and delicious both mornings. The sour cream pancakes, eggs, bacon wowed us on Sat…..followed by homemade biscuits, omelet & potatoes on Sunday. Sam & Becky are gourmet cooks and we enjoyed our meals together, laughter and fun! These hosts truly enjoy what they do and share their place and talents with others. The Chuckwagon is winner when staying in Fredericksburg.

Room Tip: Any choice in a room/cabin is great. They all have their unique points.

The Chuckwagon Inn visit was awesome. We stayed in Miss Becky's Kitchen, the king size bed was comfy and the cabin was cozy. We loved the outside balcony. Becky and Sam served a delicious hot breakfast every morning. It was fabulous!!! They are wonderful hosts with great stories. Sam had us laughing all through breakfast. It was great!!!!!! Sam, I need to order your book for all of those delicious recipes. Thank you guys for being wonderful host.

Had a most wonderful stay in the Bollinger Cabin! It could not have been more quaint or decorated more beautifully than it was! Becky and Sam were the perfect hosts! They served top notch breakfasts and their company was so much fun and entertaining. We really had a great time. My daughter and son- in- law gave us a gift certificate to stay in the Bollinger cabin and we are so glad they did! Thanks Sam and Becky for a great anniversary that we will always remember!

Room Tip: The Bollinger cabin is very private and just so clean and comfortable! We would highly recommend it!
