My husband and I really enjoyed our visit today. It was really awesome how everything was displayed and the audio explaining the history of each of the buildings. The short 15 min. video gave you a deep appreciation for what people had to overcome. Thank you to the sweet ladies in the gift shop for making us feel very welcomed! :-)

Staff excellent, very informative and had great interaction. Museum itself is made up of a number of different buildings and is a self-guided tour, at your own pace. Well worth a visit.

I adore history. I found this center very well done. All the houses are totally refurbished to what they would have looked like in that time. It gives such an accurate portrayal of their lives. The Sunday houses have opened my eyes up to this part of pioneer history - a world I did not know before. I loved how they did the audio when you walked in a house and heard the story behind it. Wheelchair access, credit card facilities, good for groups, restrooms. Gorgeous!

My husband and I really enjoyed exploring the homes and other buildings after we watched the introductory movie.
The movie was very well done and really told what the German immigrants that came to Texas has to endure. This was especially interesting to because my maiden name was German.
The homes, one room school, barn and firehouse are all very well restored, furnished and maintained.
It’s like taking a journey into days gone by!
This would be an excellent outing for children!

Thank you for visiting and for writing such a nice review. We especially appreciate the encouragement to parents to bring kids. Our museum is a representative example of life before we were all so dependent on technology. Our pioneers persevered in early Texas and built a successful and lasting community. We're glad you found the story compelling. Thanks again.

Actual buildings from the pioneer era, many still on their original site. A nice touch is the voice recordings of folks who actually lived in the houses or were involved in the businesses/institutions represented.
