“Tower of Stone . . . huh?”

Well, the direct Italian translation is tower of stone, but we didn't really find that during our second stop in our wine tour. The wines at this location were average, however, as other visitors have mentioned, the port was very good. That said, I really enjoy supporting these smaller wineries since they have probably half the staff of some of the more well-known places and are really making an effort to produce some good wines. This stop was more like a "boutique" winery . . . small, quaint, and a nice staff.

this is, in my humble view the best stop on the Texas Wine tour. It is not the biggest nor maybe does it have the best wines but the staff and the carefully archeticually designed tasting room made our experience memorable. we have visited wineries around the world and unless you are a complete expert you will usually find at least one wine you could buy. they have both a good tango and a good ruby port. We bought both and enjoyed them in our cottage after dinner. All wineries now seem to charge for tasting (usually six vintages) the difference here was they allowed two people to share a tasting.

This dusky cavern has a "just shaved and slipped between silky sheets with your significant other" port! The Torre di Pietra "Tango Port: is seriously sexy with a creme brulee finish. What more could a girl want....

Our second tasting of the day was at this winery which we've visited before. We loved one of their white wines, but never found a red that was interesting. In comparison to the previous tasting, we really wouldn't recommend this winery.

On a positive note, the Saturday afternoon music outside was very good.

Nice shop, friendly people, good wine. The hostess knowledgeable about all the wine, there was no pressure to by and she took her time talking to you about the wine.
