“My non-wine drinking husband joined the club!”

Owner description: Grape Creek Vineyards is a wine club winery. We are designed for the enjoyment of our club members. Of course, we welcome new guests to taste and tour and decide if they want to join as well. We also believe wine is a pleasure, and not a party. Our guests and our wine club members like this approach, and we appreciate their positive reviews! Trip Advisor users may notice most of our negative reviews are either because we cater to club members, or because we endeavor to create a wine experience not a party place. While this may impose certain limits on larger groups and winery access, we want to stress that our focus is on wine appreciation. We hope yours is too!

This was our first and only stop for our one day in Fredericksburg. The scenery is beautiful and makes you feel like you're anywhere but in Texas. My husband isn't a wine drinker but insisted on joining the Wine Club after our tasting. Needless to say, we're huge fans!

While this may seem like an odd review title for a winery, our family has visited many vineyards and breweries across the country. The kids don't need to partake in the drink to enjoy the tour (in fact some breweries and vineyards offer non-alcoholic drinks for kids).

Unfortunately, Grape Creek Vineyards not only charges $20 / person for a tour of their operation (wine tasting is extra), they restrict the tour to 14 years and over.

The Vineyard / Winery is more commercially developed in the area. It can be a destination, but it caters heavily to people that join their wine club. This is basically committing to have 3, 6 or more bottles of wine shipped to your home 5 times per year. If you join the 'club' you can get free wine tastings and they have special seating areas and a private 'bar' on property for 'club members'. In fact, most of the seating outdoors is in their 'private' area. There is even an 'attendant' at the entrance to the patio to confirm membership.

The property is spacious and there is a lot of green space for members and non-members to relax and enjoy time on the property.

Thank you for choosing to visit Grape Creek and for your feedback. We do charge the tour fee for all individuals attending. The reason for this is that our cellar tour begins with a trolley ride along the vines and we typically sell out of seats. Unfortunately if we did not charge everyone on the tour, it would prevent other patrons from participating. I hope this sheds light on the situation explained in your review and we do apologize for any inconvenience.

We are becoming a more wine club oriented winery. The catalyst for this shift is our mission to provide an intimate and elevated level of service to the guests seeking such an experience. We value our non-member guests as well. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and love of wine with those new to it and helping them discover which wines most please their palette. We hope to see you on future wine tasting trips!

We were here on Saturday, July 26th. Beautiful grounds. Good wine. Live music. BBQ trailer to buy food from.

If we lived in the area I could see how this could become a weekend tradition. You can bring your own picnic or purchase from food truck onsite. The day we were there they had live music. Purchase a bottle or two of wine inside and you have the perfect afternoon.

40th Birthday weekend in Fredericksburg we researched wineries and things to do in this town. We went to this winery as our first stop on the wine tour Saturday. The location was wonderful, the tour was awesome, greate customer service and wine tasting location was wonderful. My girlfriends and I enjoyed it greatly as the place was wonderfully set up to move through the tasting. We want to go back for a private event in the fall.

This winery is lovely approaching it and just as lovely on the grounds. They were part of a Hwy. 290 event and we were greeted before even entering the building. The hostess was separating the large group from smaller ones which aided us in going right in and not waiting behind the large group that arrived at the same time. This place was the most crowded of the four or five wineries we visited. It was also the largest. We immediately decided to do a tasting and the cashier kindly advised us that they were just about to run out of the chili sample with wine so hurry over and get it and then come right back. So we thought that was nice of her as that was one reason we were there. So we moved to the next table and sure enough there were two cups ready for us and were we glad. The chili was superbly made with venison and such a good flavor combination with cilantro sour cream and pumpkin seeds:) The cook was cordial and interacted with us even while waiting on the large group, serving them each a spoonful so they could taste what he had left of the huge pot of chili. We also got a free wine sampling with the chili. This is what we expected from all the wineries who were participating but unfortunately it was only true for 2 of the 5 we visited. The others had you purchase tastings before they would give sample. As soon as we finished the delicious chili the cashier got right back with us and set us up with tasting, which was $12 for one but you get to keep the logo glass and get six tastings of your choice. You can share also:) The lady that helped us was attentive and informed and shared tips and information about each wine we tried. We decided to buy a bottle, they were reasonable for the area, and she directed us to the next building for purchase. Unfortunately it was so crowded there was a line at the register so we opted out of waiting. But this building also has tastings and I think the gift shop is in here to. There were too many people for us to mill around and see. Outside they have a lovely patio area with lots of tables and a stage area with a performer. Wonderful location to meet and enjoy nice wine, breeze, scenery and music. We will return here and buy some wine to share~! Thank you Grape Creek for your staff's attentiveness and caring about your customers.

We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed the Chili and Chillin’ Wine Road 290 event! Thank you for choosing to visit Grape Creek Vineyards and for your lovely review. We apologize for the line you decided to bypass at the end of your visit. During the work week we are able to offer a more intimate experience and definitely shorter lines! If it is more convenient, you are also able to place your wine order via our website. We hope to see you in the near future!
