“Nice house but would not stay again at this location.”
Reviewed February 10, 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Upon arrival, the little house is very inviting/nice curb appeal. It was dusty but figured it hadn't been used in a while, no problem. There was a strong, distinct 'flower-ry" type smell that really bothered my husband (which is unusual, unless he's walking through the perfume counters in Macys) but I could not find the source, we searched all over; we let in some fresh air, sat on the porch (enjoyed reading the home's history), closed back up and headed out for dinner.

First night, immediate neighbor was pounding, in what appears to be a shop (a few feet from the back corner of house) until well after midnight and you could hear the constant banging (as if in the room with you). About 4am a slightly confused rooster was going non-stop. Wouldn't have been so bad, if we weren't already kept up by the neighbor.

The space is good size but the armiore which the description noted could be used for hanging clothes (no closet) is not deep enough - so be prepared to live out of suitcases on the floor. You can hang one or two items (bring your own hangers) diagonally; that's it. Perhaps a small dresser would help for anyone staying more than just a night.

Again, my husband was getting a headache/sinus issues from this strong smell but we still could not find the source. Kept thinking was a plug-in air freshener on super-high but checked every outlet. We spent as little time as possible in the house, for this reason.

The bathroom is really nice and the stone shower is certainly beautiful, however there is only one place to hang a damp towel. The other is right next to one of the beautiful antique pieces and we didn't want any dampness to touch the piece. We'd recommend the owners add an alternative option for hanging towels.

Lastly, as we gathered garbage and washed/dried a few coffee cups, I noticed under the bathroom sink, behind a basket was a 'odor remover' which is what was giving off the super strong flowery/chemical smell. Found it too late or would have put on porch, while we were there.

Overall, cute place but would not stay here again. Not sure owner(s) were aware of any of this, as we only shared with local booking company (we stopped in a few times with questions & for information). May or may not book through Gästehaus Schmidt again, as we reported the issues (including turning our breakfast certificates in unused), possible storm damage to roof (night two was an awful storm; lots of damage to surrounding properties etc.) - again, we know this is not anyone's fault, just noting reported all issues and with each just "oh, sorry".

Hope this review makes it to the owners and they can make some adjustments for future guests.

“Best kept secret in Fredericksburg!”
Reviewed October 4, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This was my first trip to Fredericksburg, and the one thing that made this trip so memorable was our time spent in Das Solheid Sunday House. The house was everything I hoped it would be, and by the end of the trip I was searching realtor sites for homes in Fredericksburg! My husband and I planned this trip around our birthdays and anniversary. Das Solheid is so romantic and was a perfect getaway for us. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, drinking wine, and taking in the scenery around us. The street is very quite and so clean! All of the homes around Das Solheid were well-kept, but vacant for the most part, so it felt as if we had the street to ourselves. We walked to the end of the street and explored the cemetery, which is full of Fredericksburg history. Main street was a short drive from the house which was a plus. We spent a few hours each day site seeing, shopping, and touring the walk in wineries. We also hiked Enchanted Rock.. One word: Amazing!! I know we absolutely enjoyed our time in Fredericksburg and at Das Solheid Sunday House. I will definitely book all future getaways at Das Solheid.

“Wonderful Trip”
Reviewed May 11, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We needed a relaxing stress free weekend and the Das Solheid Sunday House provided accommodations for just that. Our entire weekend was great but sitting on the front porch in the evenings and the patio in the mornings made a trip even better. This lovely Sunday House is beautiful and is perfect for a couple needing some downtime or a romantic weekend.
