“Fun getaway with our freinds”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

Excellent facilities and great location for dining and shopping. The individual cottages with sitting areas and porches provide both privacy and comfort!! Service was excellent and the people were freindly. I would highly recomend this B&B! Bob.

This was my husband and mines first B&B experience. We are frequent travelers and usually stay in full service hotels, but I wanted something a bit different for our trip to Fredericksburg. First of all, the personal touch of having the owner, Joe, follow up and confirm details via email before our trip is a nice touch. Secondly, the Main Street location is far enough away from the busyness of the shopping area, but close enough to be there within minutes. However.... We stayed in The Rectory Room which is on the front side of the house and connected to The Vickers Room. We heard the road noise ALL night and in the early morning while we were trying to sleep in. Not a good night sleep. And perhaps it's just me, but I am used to a TV in the bedroom and there is only one in the sitting room. Perhaps that's part of the whole B&B experience.... Nothing overly special with the pastries that were left out the day we arrived to eat the next morning. I prefer to go to a restaurant for a hot meal, bu again, I think that goes back to our preference to hotels. I think if you are wanting a B&B experience, you will be very happy, but if going to this location, choose one of the other rooms so you will be off the road and not connected to another room where you are sharing the house with a possible other tenant.

We stayed in the Cotswald cottage at the Main Street location. Set of 4 cottages centered around a central courtyard behind main house on Main Street. Cotswald is last cottage in back on northeast corner of property. Parking off street on side of main house, but outside the courtyard area. So you will have to carry luggage from vehicle to cottage, but not far from cottage, and parking is in private residence area and shaded. Located on the west end of Main Street where the residential area begins. You have to watch for the yellow All Seasons sign in front of the main house on the street and then pull into covered driveway that leads to parking area. Surrounded by other B&B cottages, but very quiet, secluded and peaceful. Never heard any noise from anyone around; just the yard man who came to blow off grass and porches. Cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped with just about everything you could possibly need. Key was left in room for us upon arrival and check in instructions had been mailed to us. The owner, Joe Cloud, came to meet us the next morning, while we were sitting on the front porch rockers having coffee. Joe has even provided Splenda, Sweet & Low, salt & pepper, and sugar in the cottage. Fresh fruit, cereals (Cheerios, Raisin Bran), OJ, milk, gourmet coffee beans with grinder in coffeemaker, tea, hot chocolate, cinnamon strudel, candies, coke, diet coke provided and replenished as needed on daily basis. Bed was very comfortable, as was the whole cottage. Like having your own efficiency apartment in town. Extra large whirlpool tub in bathroom was very relaxing. Gilchrist & Soames soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, etc., including mouthwash provided. Maid comes in every day to replenish supplies and take out trash. Expected that she would sweep floors daily and clean bathrooms, as these supplies were not in cottage, but our maid did not do this. She did remake the bed and probably would have done dishes, but we did our own dishes and straightening up. We stayed 4 nights, making our own breakfasts in the morning, returning after lunch to rest from the heat, then going out again in the evening for dinner and/or excursion. Joe left for his own vacation the day after we arrived, but still arranged for cable guy to call and instruct us on how to operate TV when we couldn't figure it out.

We had an excellent experience at the Main Street location, in the Humble Plumb room. It was so clean and well stocked with breakfast foods. It was our first time staying at a B&B and we were not totally sure what to expect- but everything was first class! The manager, Joe, is so helpful and answered all of our questions and gave great restaurant recommendations. We would love to come back every weekend to relax!!! We came with our only goal in mind to relax and catch up on some sleep and the room was so comfortable- we definitely felt better leaving.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Humble Plumb, which has a king size bed, large TV and couch and small kitchen (4 bu...

We visit Fredericksburg often, and the Carriage House at the Main Street Retreat was definately one of our favorite stays! Large and comfortable accomodations! Many many pampering touches that we so appreciated: refridgerator stocked with fresh fruit, cream, milk, juice, water, all in presented glass serving pieces. Wonderful patries, gourmet, locally roasted coffee beans, fully stocked guest toiletries, everything we might have needed.

Joe met us at the retreat for check in and to welcome us, and show us around our weekend home and offer recomendations for entertainment and dining. Check-out was equally as simple, right there at the property. We felt like welcomed guests, and not just B&B customers.

A very lovely and relaxing escape from a large family and a small business...would highly recomend to friends and plan to visit again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Carriage House which was very large and spacious!

We recently spent two nights in the Humble Plumb. It was beautifully appointed and met all of our expectations and more. The king sized bed was very comfortable, the breakfast with coffee was delicious, the bathtub was excellent, and the location was perfect. We loved the bathroom products. The cottage was very clean and neat and everything was in place. The coolness made sleeping so comfortable. The vine covered patio was a great amenity The quietness was wonderful for sleeping late. Couldn't have asked for better!
