If you ahve looked at the website, then you already know that Settlers Crossing consists of several old restored buildings that are individually rented and not rooms in a single building. We loved our stay in the Pioneer cabin. The character of the old buildings (note that old does not mean decrepit, but of course it also means that perhaps not all the latest amenities are present) is wonderful, and the property is well-maintained, clean and very peaceful. We loved seeing the resident animals (herd of sheep, donkeys) on the property. Despite the age of the Pioneer cabin, it has been restored so as to be completely comfortable. We very much enjoyed the big porch with rocking chairs and a swing - perfect for relaxing! While our primary purpose was to visit Fredericksburg, Settlers' Crossing is located far enough outside of town so as to provide an escape from the bustle there, but close enough to be able to zip into town whenever the mood strikes (note that it is NOT within walking distance to Fredericksburg or any other attraction). It is also convenient (by driving) to other attractions (the seed farm and Luckenbach, among others). The biggest negative is that the "breakfast" part of the bed & breakfast is a stretch, with pastries and coffeee and cereal being what is provided. This was not a problem for us as we are not big breakfast eaters, but if you are expecting a full, hot meal as at a true B&B, then this will be disappointing. If you do decide to take advantage of the charm of this property, pay attention to the directions - there is not a big sign to tell you when you have arrived there, and because of the size of the property, very little of it is visible from the road (which is part of what we enjoyed).
