“Great park”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

Nice park, clean facilities and amazing views. I would recommend visiting between late October and mid March. Otherwise it is way too hot and can be dangerous for any kind of hiking or camping.

“Great Park but get there early !!”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

The Enchanted Rock is a great park that all can climb but it will get very busy on weekends and holidays so get there very early as their parking area can only handle so many vehicles plus the system they have for entry is VERY slow with lines going out into 965.
GREAT PARK, GREAT TIME, Worth going to but be early !

“Beautiful Park”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

Just stayed one night. The onsite shower and bathrooms were clean. The grounds themselves were well kept. There are beautiful hiking trails one of which takes you to the peak of the mountain (huge rocks) There is also rock climbing available at your own risk. They have maps for all the different trails.

“Great place to visit”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Nice place for a couple hour visit just 20 minutes north of Fredericksburg. A challenging hike to the top and a fun hike around the perimeter

“The enchanted backways of the Enchanted Rock”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

I've been up there many times, once even twice a day (to see the sunset), and it always provides for new views, colors, and flowers. Climbing up, if you're in reasonable shape, should take between 20-30 minutes, but be sure to take enough water with you. Once reaching the summit, advance to its northern lower part, where you'll be more protected from wind, if there is any, and where you can also find shade in hot sunny days. Most people climb the rock down, the same way as they came up, but a most beautiful and unique alternative exists if you follow a narrow path from the northern part to the north-east. You will walk by impressive rock formations, caves along a little tiny "canyon" that will take eventually down the huge rock. Be careful as you find your path, as climbing back to correct a mistake, is not always easy. But it's sure worth it. Last time we even had a 6 months baby, carried by a brave father and even braver mother, in our party. The scenery is fantastic and you see far less people than on the regular path. Once down the hill, take the path to the right and follow it clock wise along the rock. You will pass by a small lake/pool before eventually reaching back the parking lot.
