“Outstanding, friendly small town motel.”

The Dietzel isn't as opulent as the Bellagio in Vegas, and it sure isn't priced like it! This older 20 or so room motel was comfortable, exceptionally clean, and quiet. The owners (and Ginger and Honey, their Golden Retrievers) quickly made us feel like family. The grassy picnic area near the pool was perfect for watching the full moon and enjoying a beverage late at night.
We WILL be back!

My wife and I stayed 2 nights. The owners were more than helpful with suggestions and recommendations and even let me into my room with a smile when I locked myself out at 8:30 at night. It is like a 60's throwback motel but as clean as the day it opened. The hot spots on Main street are just minutes away and on a real nice day you could walk if you were inclined. We did the wine trail and starting at the far end only took 25 minutes. I will stay there again next time we head to Fredericksburg.

Enjoyed a quick shopping trip to Fredericksburg and enjoyed staying at the Dietzel. The room was very large and extemely clean. The motel is convenient to Main Street. The owner was very helpful and offered many suggestions for dining options. I was traveling alone and felt very safe. It is nice to be able to pull my car up to the door. Enjoyed breakfast at the Old German Bakery on Main Street. I would stay here again because the reasonable rates gave me more money to shop with.

  • Liked — Reasonably priced.
  • Disliked — No coffee pot in room to make hot tea.

Paid $54 weekday and $79 weekend. Agree with the previous posters regarding layout and cleanliness. The nearest breakfast place was the Old German Bakery where we had the worst breakfast ever. Potatoes extra, slimey skinny pancakes and cash only! However, the German restaurant next door was excellent and well priced.

  • Liked — Clean and felt safe parking at the door
  • Disliked — After staying in other places, this felt old and had absolutely no extras but ok at $54 week but not $79 weekend.

Since we decided to go to Fredericksburg over Labor Day
without a lot of pre-planning, we perused Trip Advisor for a recommendation for a nice, simple, hassle free place and
discovered the Dietzel Motel. We did not need a B&B this time or a lot of bells & whistles, just a nice place for your quick visit. Everything we read about the Dietzel was true and then some. The place is a throwback and we are suckers for anything old which is kept pristeen, so this was certainly the place.
A simple, one story, old timey motel where you park in front of your room and the coffeee is served at the office in the morning. Quietly located at the junction of 290 & 87, the location is super and the rooms were everything we expected, but even cleaner. The "linoleum" floors in the entry and bath were somehow impeccable as were the bathroom fixtures and large tiled shower. The towels were clean and plentiful and the bed linens had a wonderfully clean smell which made me wonder if they were even washing the bedspreads after every stay. And, as an added treat, the large, picture, window in the room opened up to a gorgeous view of the grounds behind the motel which were
so picturesque, we felt like we were in the country.
After checking in, we stomped around the town and then listened to great music at the Wildseed Farm for the afternoon ,so, when we returned back to the Dietzel, hot and
tired, we wre happilyy surprised to find the pool completely empty and inviting (over Labor Day, no less). The pool was also clean and pristeen (not much ambiance, but what did we care, we just wanted to cool off and splash around without thinking we would contract some hideous infection from "public waters.")
As old as this place is, it surprised us that it could be so well managed this day in age without losing the
"I'm on a roadtrip with Lucy and Ricky" feeling. Bottom line, if you are looking for a reasonably priced, bare bones, but Clean, Clean, Clean place to rest your head, look no further than the Dietzel Motel. Your nose will thank you and so will your "pocketbook."

Friends recommended this motel to be very clean and reasonably priced. That's exactly what we got. The Dietzel looks like one of those 60's era motels on the outside, but the rooms are nicely updated. Our room had new carpet, a flat screen TV, microwave and refrigerator. The A/C worked flawlessly. The owners work very hard to keep this old motel very clean and neat. A great bargain. We will stay here again.
