“Nice hotel, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

The Hilton is an older hotel that has been refurbished to flat screen TV standards.  The hotel is located just next to the convention center and a five minute walk from Sundance Square where there are restaurants and outdoor entertainment.  There are three (!) high end steakhouses on the same block as the hotel or across the street.

Service was excellent, from the valet to the front desk.  We were given passes to the club floor lounge where they serve a nice buffet breakfast.  It was almost empty when we went the next morning.  I got a corner room, which was quite large.

This is the hotel where JFK spent the night before embarking on his fateful motorcade to Dallas.  They beat you over the head with this fact from the moment you arrive when the valet tells you as he takes your car. There are photos of the former prez all over the hotel.

Watch out for the $22/night valet parking charge, no self parking available.  Other than that, a nice place to spend a night in Fort Worth.

Originally The Texas Hotel, the establishment is now owned by Hilton. The hotel lacks original period details often found in historic boutique hotels, which is too bad. However, air conditioning in the hotel is typical of historic buildings, inconsistent--the hallways/meeting spaces are freezing and the guest rooms are stuffy. Also typical of historic hotels, guest rooms vary from room to room. Room 903 is very large, but had a very small closet and smaller bathroom--not minuscule, but small. In addition, the top drawer of the bureau would not stay closed--I wedged a cardboard cup sleeve at the bottom of it to keep it closed during my stay (after colliding with it in the dark on my way to the loo, I had to "fix" it, or be bruised and battered when I checked out :).

I was at the hotel for a conference, so was in a number of the meeting rooms and ballrooms. Some of the meeting rooms were oddly configured, with large columns in the center of the smaller rooms, which impeded conversation and view-ability of projected session images. Tech support was very helpful though and water was available in every room (for speakers and attendees). Wireless coverage in the meeting rooms was excellent, which is a must for most meetings today.

The hotel is near a number of eateries ranging from the Corner Bakery to steakhouses. It is also within a block of the Convention Center. Shops are located for several blocks surrounding the hotel, however you will need to take a cab or rent a bike to museums and other "tourist" spots.

Thank you for staying with us while attending a conference and for taking time to review your stay. I appreciate your comments and feedback. As you mentioned the hotel is an ideal location and walking distance to so many restaurants, shops and the new Sundance Square Plaza. We have just started a "refresh" of all our guest rooms and corridors- it will take place over the next six months and it will be completed to not disturb guests- as we stay it will be done "stealth". (including a new dresser with safe and in room mini fridger). Thank you again

Checked in around 7:00 on a Saturday night and it took less than 5 minutes to valet, check in and get to the room. Someone greeted us halfway between the front door and the check-in desk. The room was nice and had a soft bed. The bathroom was extra large. While the hotel is on one extreme side of where most of the action is, it didn't take more than about five to seven minutes to walk to Sundance Square.

A buddy and I checked in here on 4/3/14 for 5 nights. The front desk was helpful and quick. Our room had 2 queen beds, large walk-in bathroom with shower/tub combine. Closet was big enough and one sitting chair in addition to a desk w/chair was in the room. A small built in safe was in the top dresser drawer. Our room 725 didn't have much of a view other than office buildings across the street. It was a quite room though and towards the end of the hall.
The hotel is on the edge of downtown which offers countless bars and restaurants to choose from. We were in town for the Final Four, so the town was packed but no one place seemed over crowded. Two fine steak houses are next door to the hotel, Ruth Chris and Capital Grill. You can't go wrong with this location. It is also a 4 minute walk to the main city bus line and the train which goes to/from Dallas and the airport. We took the train to the airport and the one way cost for 2 people was $3.75! Allow an hour total from train to airport, but save so much money.

Room Tip: 725 is towards end of hallway. Quite room but no view really.

Our initial service was slow, Valet took forever. Had to unload our own luggage due to lack of bellboy service. Waited in line to check in for 15 minutes. Once in our room, we only had 1 bath towel. Called housekeeping twice. Husband had to come back downstairs and retrieve our own towels. Room service was ridiculously overpriced. Checkout was smooth sailing.

Perfect location if you have any events to attend at the Convention Center. Hotel Lobby has FREE WiFi and an easy access Business Center. Hotel also has a Starbucks and an outstanding steak house with other restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Could not ask for more from this hotel except the rooms need to be upgraded as they are starting to show signs of wear & tear. We will definitely stay there again.

Everything you would expect from a Hilton hotel but with that added US customer service that is infamous! Downsides were the breakfast and bathrooms, but a Starbucks on site made up for it. The hotel is situated in downtown Fort Worth. There is more activity in a nuclear fall out area than here! Great for business purposes, rubbish if you are visiting for more than a day!

We thank you for staying with in November and for taking time review your stay. I am sorry the downtown area did not make a great impression on you. Typically many guests enjoy the many restaurants, entertainment and night life as well numerous events that take place in the downtown area- from "Parade of Lights" in November, " Main Street Art Festival" in April, "the Main Table" on Main in September, the new Sundance Square Plaza that opened in the middle of November, the Fort Worth Stock Show and Parade in January. Bass Hall, 7th street entertainment area and numerous Cultural venues. I appreciate your kind words regarding the services provided at the hotel especially Starbucks- we just introduce a new line of pastries and new hot breakfast and lunch sandwiches. We are hopeful you will consider Fort Worth again- Thank you. Dave Fulton VP and General Manager. Dave.Fulton@hilton.com
