“Home!!!”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Has been my husbands favorite place since childhood, his aunt lives just down the street. The food and service is the best and you feel at home. My favorite is the southwest chicken casserole, it's a chicken enchilada made into a casserole, husbands favorite is meatloaf the taste hasn't changed since he was a child!!!

“Good Service, Average Food, Good Value”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Our server was great. Very prompt and attentive. Looked like the manager or owner brought us our food which you rarely see happen. Restaurant had been updated since my last visit and looked much better. However, the food was not as good as before. The salad was good, but the bread would be much better if they served honey butter or something. Just ok. The items on the vegetable plate used to come in separate bowls but now just sit on a plate, and the portions seem smaller. And they lacked some flavor. The food is edible and filling, but could use some updating or tweaking. All in all it's still an affordable meal.

“Comfort Food”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

You can't find a better place for down home comfort food. Fried corn on the cob, black-eyed peas and cornbread, mashed potatoes... Never disappoints. Family food done right.

“Home cooking never goes out of style”
Reviewed April 13, 2012

The Black Eyed Pea is still a good home cooking restaurant in Ft Worth. The home made yeast rolls were fresh and fluffy, the pot roast tender and juicy and the vegetables tasty and enjoyable.

The service was attentive without being irritating though the noise was a bit loud with the young toddlers bouncing for hair to chair - thanks to the rather harried parents who did their best to keep them occupied and in check. We appreciated the courtesy.
