“Only one flaw we could find...wish they'd "put it to bed"”
Reviewed July 6, 2009

My wife and I spent the 4th of July weekend here. The location is excellent...the staff is friendly and welcoming. The place is very clean. The only real issue we had is the bedding. The hotel is 5 years old..or so, and apparently the original bedding has never been replaced. We are used to most Marriott family properties having really decent mattresses, etc....but ours was way too soft and you tended to roll toward the middle. If your partner moves at all, you feel it....way too bouncy and just plain worn out.

The last morning I happened to ask the front desk clerk the age of the property, and was told "5 years"....when I asked if the bedding had ever been replaced, she said she thought "that was next". So, I certainly recommend the place...as long as they've
replaced the bedding. Also, there were a lot of dogs being taken in and out, and for pet owners, that's great, but I would very much prefer to have a room that has never had
animals (non-human ones anyway) in it.

Surprised to see a few negative reviews, nothing but positives for this place. A little way from the City Centre, but there's a free taxi to and from downtown. The rooms are large, spacious and extremely comfortable. The staff were amongst the friendliest I've come across. The pool and jacuzzi were great and the breakfast was superb. If I had to name any negatives then perhaps the access to the lounge PC was limited and the (free!) taxi took a while to arrive. Overall, recommended!

The rooms are clean and the staff is enthusiastic and friendly.

However, I stayed on the south west (parking lot) side of the hotel and was awakened several times each night of my stay by trains passing through, garbage trucks picking up trash each morning and the random car alarm going off. I'm a heavy sleeper and normally do not have this problem, but on night of my three night stay, I woke up several times due to noise. It's also quite easy to hear foot traffic in the room above and people moving about in the rooms adjacent.

I love how much the staff seems to care, the amenities and thoughtful and well provided, but because of the noise, I wouldn't stay here again.

Also, in terms of nearby food, opt for Angelo's (BBQ) and the Flying Fish (fried seafood) over Gloria's in the Montgomery Ward.

Given the location of this hotel, the price is too high. Paid $214 per night with AAA. Walking distance to a shopping Center with a Super Target and a few restaurants. Gloria's (Mexican food), Pei Wie(Asian food) and a rowdy, noisy sports bar. Exchange Ave and Sundance Square are not walking distance. We arrived 20 minutes after check-in but when we got to our room it was still being cleaned. Front desk apologized and upgraded us to a balcony room. Balcony was very large and had a partial skyline view. Complementary hot breakfast was substantial and served daily. Happy hour was beer and wine with chicken wings, green beans and salad. Note: Happy hour is Mon-Thursday only! Nice park next to hotel with a duck pond. Keep in mind this is a residence in with long term guests. During our stay, the hotel was pretty much taken over by FEMA employees. On Sunday night (10/5/08) the BBQ area that is supposedly open to all hotel guests was completely monopolized by the FEMA group. Overall a good stay but not a good value.

PS. Front desk was clueless on airport directions, got better directions from a hotel guest.

  • Liked — Complementary breakfast, happy hour, guest (coin) laundry, two room suites with full kitchen
  • Disliked — Not walking distance to any attractions or shops

This hotel was one of the friendliest, cleanest, best laid out hotels we have ever stayed at. It is set up to be as comfortable as home if not more so. The staff was super friendly and willing to help out with anything. They will even do your grocery shopping for you for a long stay. My next trip to Fort Worth will definately include a stay here!

Great modern residence inn. Seems pretty new and is very clean. We stayed here for 5 days in a 2br suite on the 4th floor. Rooms were nicely sized (king + queen + sofa bed). Be aware that the 4th floor is handicapped accessible, and as a result the floor plan, bathrooms, etc. are different than the others (I liked the others better). The staff here was VERY nice, almost too nice. :) Hotel is in a very quiet location and we had no major complaints, staff was always willing to help (more towels, etc.) Be aware the hotel is right next to a train track, and we did hear a few trains go by slowly (but loud), but never after dark. Don't know if that is normal, or we were just lucky.

Accommodations aren't luxury by any means, but were nice, clean, and great for a family. Short drive to 6 flags. Recommended.

  • Liked — Clean rooms, friendly staff
  • Disliked — A/C on roof (I guess that is what it was) was noisy at times. Had to keep asking for extra towels.
