“Hibachi in West Fort Worth - who knew?”
Review of Japanese Palace

Japanese Palace
Ranked #275 of 1,751 Restaurants in Fort Worth
Cuisines: Sushi, Japanese
Description: Japanese Palace serves the freshest, ingredients along with seafood from around the world, giving you a unique dining experience, that is exciting and entertaining every time you visit. We strive to maintain the quality, creativity and freshness of the food we serve. In 40 years, some things change very little. That's because they don't have to. Like Japanese Palace - remarkable food, genuine hospitality, and fun atmosphere - perfectly beautiful from the start. Hibachi grills set the ambiance, and patrons are treated to a show of master chefs creating billowing clouds of steam and flames. The 1970's style original bar is preserved as a working time-capsule of the '70's culture and is a must see. Our outstanding sushi bar was Fort Worth's first!

OK, so I wrote a positive review on this before (for some reason it was deleted w/o notification??_
We arrived ~10 mins early before the restaurant was scheduled to open on a Saturday; there was already a line of ~15 people waiting to go in... wow it must be that popular with the locals!
I've been to a few different Hibachi restaurants (Benihana, Kobe, MT Fuji...) so they're all along the same vein of Japanese steakhouses.
As you enter, to the right is a small bar to wait for seating. Off to the left are the hibachi grills. This restaurant is wide open between the Hibachi grills so it can get a bit loud in here especially on the weekends with all the grills going at once and +80 people chatting in one big room. There are a couple of rooms off to the side to cater to either private parties or overflow.
The show was not so amazing as I've seen them quite a few times so it's probably harder to impress me; nevertheless it's all upon the cooks enthusiasm to either make it boring or fun.
The cook, food and service were good but not exceptional although the servings of the meat were plenty(they should be for the price). I'm not fond of the soup with it's sacrificial one slice of mushroom, although the small salad was limited with chunk of iceberg lettuce.

My daughter’s birthday party @ Japanese Palace on October 17, 2017. Other birthday people there too. The food was tasteless, not seasoned and burnt. The veggies were burnt, the steak was burnt, the lobster was burnt. Definitely the cook did not care about the product we were being served. I couldn’t complain because it was my daughter’s party and friends were there. They all commented how Japanese Palace has gone downhill and it’s so sad. Used to be a great place for special occasions, not anymore.

First trip in over 20 years and LAST. My wife ordered the Choice New York steak, medium rare,
accompanied by savory shrimp, the steak was cut in big chunks cooked slightly under well done, which made it TOUGH, and the shrimp was so over cooked it was like rubber. I had the Seafood Combination succulent cold water lobster tail, tender sweet scallops and savory shrimp sautéed in lemon butter and soy sauce, I will admit the scallops were cooked to perfection, but the shrimp and lobster were cooked to death, two or three times, nothing but rubber, not worth the money or time. VERY DISAPPOINTED
