The Cupcakery is a frequent stop when I go to Sundance Square. It is located directly across from Bass Performance Hall, so it’s a perfect location for a pre- or post- performance sugar rush. They often have a special cupcake designed to match the theme of whatever the performance is at Bass. Cupcakes are a bit pricey, but I justify that to myself by thinking of them as part of the treat of going out, just as a nice dinner is. The business occupies a small space, and there are only a few booths that seat two people each; perfect for a date. They even have champagne available. Because of the price, it’s not somewhere I’d considering going to if I needed a number of cupcakes for a party.
Their cupcakes all look delicious and they use plenty of icing, which is something I like. If you don’t care for that much icing, you can always scrape some off. I have tried many of their cupcakes and found that some are better than others. Their vanilla and chocolate ones tend to be disappointing. What they do best are the ones with a fruit-flavored cake. Those tend to be moister and have a better flavor.
TIP: They sometimes have a discount for people attending performances across the street if you show them your ticket.
