“Comfortable three night stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013

We stayed here for three nights at the end of November 2013.

The room was split between sitting area, then bathroom off to side before door into bedroom at the back. All were spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept well while there.

There is some noise from the highway and other might not like being just above the Jacuzzi area although I did not mind the woman drinking beer and smoking for a good two hours leading up to midnight in the Jacuzzi.

Wifi was good in our room and in the hotel and we made use of the "business facility" which in reality was a computer near the reception desk. We used it to print out tickets that we had bought on line in our room without charge.

Breakfast was of good continental quality and there was a bit more fruit than we had seen at other comparable hotels.

Unfortunately the shuttle service ran on only one day we were there as it was thanksgiving otherwise we would have made more use of it. I think that the service is a big bonus so shame we did not know that it was not going to run.

There were some peculiarities on the reception desk but all friendly nonetheless and good to see individual personalities.

I would stay again.

Room Tip: Try and have a room not backing onto the road if you are sensitive to noise.

Overall this hotel is a good value. The staff was generally very friendly and accommodating. There were a few little perks at the hotel that I really enjoyed. They had cookies at the front desk, free newspaper, and they have a cool little lending library in the lobby. What I care most about are the breakfast and the wifi.

The breakfast was good with some selection. They had a waffle machine. cereal, a selection of bread, bagels and doughnuts, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt and a rotating hot selection. For the hot selection they had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, egg and cheese omlettes, bacon, and sausage. The hot selection was different every morning so not everything was out every day.

The wifi was good. I had good signal with no complicated login. Speeds were decent.

There was one major negative to this hotel. The road noise from the adjacent highway was very loud. Usually you can drown most noise with the HVAC but this hotel doesn't use the typical PTAC unit under the window so the heater was much quieter. I would suggest asking for an odd numbered room on order to get on the side that faces away from the road.

Another comment is there seems to be a bit of a staff management issue with maintenance and housekeeping. The room and hotel in general need some maintenance throughout. We had loose floor tiles in our bathroom for one example. The housekeeping took our towels and soaps and didn't replenish them one day. Also, there was a spilled gallon of iced tea out front that was left quite a while and made a mess. A little more attention to cleanliness would go a long way.

I would stay at this hotel again as I feel the positives and friendly staff outweigh the negatives.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms are on the side facing away from the highway.

We loved the cookies at check-in! They are some of the best that we have had and made for a nice welcoming. The facility is great and the rooms are clean with nice furnishings. The only complaint we had is that we had cold showers.

I'm a very price aware person, so I have certain expectations within certain price ranges. For all hotels, no matter the price range, I expect it to be clean and not smell. That is a basic that all hotels should aspire to, period. The second thing is proper maintenance of what you do have, even if it's not fancy.

We were in room 309 and the first thing that hit us was the smell. It smelled old and musty. The carpet looks dated. Not sure how old the hotel is, but if the carpet appears old and smells musty, it's time to change it.

The second thing was the bathroom. It was clean, but had a big crack in the shower wall. I'm not sure if they did a patch job on it, but if not water leaking into the walls can be a potential hazard.

The overhead light fixture in the bathroom was also malfunctioning and would constantly flicker on and off and it was very hard on the eyes.

The cable reception was bad and it looked like old TV antenna reception with a snowy picture on most channels.

Last problem that caught my attention was the clock. It didn't work. I tried setting the alarm, then suddenly something went haywire (whether it was from the wall outlet or the innards of the clock I don't know), and I found myself having to set both the time and alarm. This happened 3 times before I got frustrated and resorted to setting the alarm on my phone.

On a good note, the beds were comfortable, not hard as a rock. The bedding was clean and comfortable. Kudos on the beds.

Very nice and quiet room. The staff was helpful. About 20 minutes to the Stockyards Historic District; a motel shuttle bus is also available. Good continental breakfast. Refrigerator and microwave available. Good Mexican restaurant across the street.

We found this hotel online and chose it because it was in close proximity to the Fort Worth Stockyards and was quite a bit cheaper than the hotels IN the actual stockyards. Best part is, the hotel actually has a shuttle that will take you back and forth, so we didn't have to worry about driving.

The hotel has fresh cookies throughout the day that are DELICIOUS, they also have a hot continental breakfast which is nice since so many hotels either make you pay for that, or just have doughnuts and cereal.

The rooms aren't anything spectacular, but we were in a king suite and it more than suited our needs. It was comfy, but not over the top.

The one complaint I would have would be the pillows. They're not 3/4 the size of a regular pillow and are kind of lumpy, so if you opt to stay here, I'd bring your own. Otherwise this is right off I-35 so it's easy to get to, and even with our room being on the east side of the building, we could barely hear the interstate traffic.

There were 30+ of us registered to stay here. When we arrived on Saturday afternoon they had everything ready and waiting. They asked your name and handed you your pre-coded keys and told you your room number and off to the next person. we were ALL checked in, in about 10 minutes. The room was very nice, very clean. Leaving Sunday was the most impressive part. Checkout was noon. Our train didn't leave until after 5. At noon the hotels responsibility to us is over but here is the above and beyond. At noon we were trying to decide what to do until our train left. The hotel had us leave our luggage at the hotel and they would have it at the train station at 4:00. They then took us to the stockyards for the afternoon and came back at 3:30 to pick us up and take us to the train station. As the title said ABOVE and BEYOND!!
